The Senate voted yesterday to move forward on the Gang of Eights immigration planwhich would grant amnesty to 11 million illegal immigrants.
Insanity is often defined as doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different result. As Heritages David Inserra points out, Instead of new ideas, the current bill is essentially just recycling the flawed and failed ideas of the past.
Remember, once amnesty is granted it can never be taken away. Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) took to the Senate floor yesterday to outline several reasons why we may be asking for a mulligan on this amnesty proposal.
With this bill, the American people are being sold a product. Theyre being asked to accept legalization. And in exchange, theyd be assured through this legislation that the laws are going to be enforced. But this product contains all sorts of hidden agendas and faulty promises, with no guarantees that the promises will come true once the amnesty is in place.
The Obama Administration has pushed the envelope by waiving welfare laws, Grassley reminded the Senate, so why should we assume the Administration wouldnt do it again? The reality check for the American people is that there are loopholes and the potential for public benefits to go to those who are legalized under the bill.
The danger of putting too many things in one bill is that you end up having to pass it to see whats in it. But we know one thing: Amnesty for illegal immigrants is the first order of business.
Weve tried it before, and it didnt work. This is the wrong way to address a serious issue with trillions in taxpayer dollars at stake.
I will, if God allows.
Really? I thought the Federal Reserve would be more of a "our money isn't outs" causation.
I only hope that the thinking is to let it out for a floor vote so they can kill it outright and not let it drag on.
"On immigration, Senator Marco Rubio says that amnesty for illegals should come before border security. How can something so obviously flawed seem logical to some people?"
At any rate, OWS, this nation could survive if we could turn back the Congressional and legislative clock back to 1911.
If that could happen, a million tons of waste paper and computer space would be freed up. The paper would be burned and the American experiment could have become the American dream.
If only, if only, if only.
If only our borders had remained secure and if only we had a Congress that wasn’t pathetically stupid.
Revolt is coming.
Several million new voters might not want those laws to stand.
” with trillions in taxpayer dollars at stake.
The senate says ... it’s not our money. “
It’s all gone, anyway.
CW2 is beginning to look like a “modest proposal”
modesty, a long lost word.
” Hispanics will give Obama all the credit for this if it passes and will just assume (correctly) that the GOP is just selling out to business who want more potential workers.”
