” Sure employers do well with mode labor competition lowering prices maybe but that is because their cheap employees get medicaid, food stamps and EITC.”

Add in welfare payments, Medicare, health care at hospitals(they bankrupt hundreds of hospitals)

Construction and farming guys don’t want to hire the extra legal body to keep track of all the guv paperwork that goes with having a legal employee. The migrant worker situation worked fine until border states started offering the spouses and family of workers freebies in the 80s.

No it wasn't, illegals and corrupt Americans hiring them was always a problem, I can personally testify to it being a problem in the 1960s.

How would that have changed today and the 1965 Immigration Act?

You can say that about yourself, but not about me and many others.

Some of us were freaked out about this during the 1960s, but people are greedy and selfish, and not very patriotic (regardless of what they claim), and they loved the fact that immigration was keeping down the wages of the working man in America.

You have a learned insight into this subject.

What I posted was an email I sent to both of my senators and my Congresswoman, Marsha Blackburn. The idea of a 200-mile cooperative is a fascinating concept.

These are the conversations Congress and the news media should be having rather than amnesty.

The motivation for Obama and the Democrats is not compassion but the potential of 10 million new votes. They don't think through to the unintended consequences. Since its inception the War on Poverty has cost about $17 trillion. Mostly it's been a boondoggle but Democrats can count on black voters.
