Michael Bloomberg and his battle against bulging waistlines are targeting new villains: sweet tea, energy drinks and fruit juices.
New York Citys health department launched a series of TV and bus ads on Monday that warn people about the high sugar content in drinks that are seemingly healthy.
The ads cost about $1.4 million and are part of a pouring on the pounds campaign that dates back to 2009, The Daily Mail reports.
One of the television ads shows a young boy happily slurping on a juice box. The scene takes a dramatic turn when it flashes to what appears to be a patient being operated on with the words amputation, heart attack, vision loss and kidney failure appearing on the screen. The patient then flatlines
Fruit-flavored drinks are not a healthy choice, a voiceover says after the cheerful music resumes, instead suggesting that parents should switch out their unhealthy drinks with water, seltzer, skim milk and fresh fruit.

As the saying goes, first they came for...
The people of NYC DESERVE IT!!
As I post this, I have a glass of sweet tea at my elbow. I’d really like to see a twit like Bloomberg come down to Texas and see how far he gets with a sweet tea ban! We don’t even specify ICED tea when we ask for tea. TEA automatically is iced. Nobody drinks hot tea down here.
Take away my sister’s sweet tea - they’re toast!
Sugar is necessary for life.
Our brains are big ol glucose guzzling machines. No sugar equals no brain activity.
Which may explain a lot.
Thanks for the ping!
“Its nice to know New York has millions to waste on this BS.”
Actually, my bet is that these are being funded by HHS grants that were put in the federal budget in 2010 and are ensured as a perpetuating budget line item.
You can have all the “Plan B” pills you want kid.
Just don’t wash em down with a big soda or smoke a cig after sex.
You got that right!! I have pretty much eliminated bread from my diet along with NO SUGAR whatsoever, have slimmed down to my youthful body, along with my high blood pressure back to normal. It’s really amazing how ignorant some people are as to why they are so fat and unhealthy.
I have added back some carbs including fruit, but will never put processed sugar back. You might as well be eating poison
Ok, now here is todays paper and what do we have in it?
I hope a lot of people see this because the MSM NEVER points this out. Oh they will report people getting killed on bikes, but they NEVER connect the dots how this subhuman piece of pig vomit Bloomberg will ban everything under the sun in the name of health, but at the same time CONSTANTLY promotes bike riding as safe to children!
