Megan Graham claims that she had to call 911 on the police...while being arrested.

Graham, who has cognitive and hearing disabilities, said she was recently beaten by a police officer while restrained by other officers in Federal Way, Wash.

Meanwhile, despite her complaint, police want the bruised and battered Graham to be charged with felony assault to a police officer.

"I had a concussion," Graham told KIRO 7. "I still have a hard time understanding how things got so out of control so fast. It was a total lack of communication."

Graham parked her car at an apartment complex where she was going to visit a friend last Monday. As Graham got out of her car, she saw a police car behind her.

"I understood that he saw me using a cell phone," Graham said. "I told the officer I was going to carry my dog 30 feet to a friend's apartment. I told him, 'Hey, you can walk with me.'"

Graham said she never heard the police officer's order that she should get back in her car. Moments later, the police officer got out of his cruiser and grabbed her wrist.

"I pulled my arm back, grabbed my phone and called 911 to call for help," Graham said. "I told the officer I had mental and hearing disabilities and didn't understand why he was trying to hurt me."

In 911 recordings obtained by KIRO 7, Graham shouted at the police officer: "You attacked me before you said anything! There is no point whatsoever for you to touch me like that, especially with my condition, so how dare you even touch me?"

The police officer repeated on the recording: "You are under arrest."

During the 911 call, another responding officer reportedly hit Graham several times in the face.

"I am not resisting," Graham yelled.

"That woman was not resisting, I saw it," said Graham's friend, Deborah Fenwick. "That woman doesn't have a violent bone in her body. She's got a heart of gold. If she would have understood the officer's commands in the first place, she would have absolutely complied with him."

However, the police report states: "As the officer approached, Graham squared off against him in a fighter's stance and attempted to strike him with closed fists. [The officer] responded with closed fist strikes to Graham's face, which brought her to the ground where she was handcuffed."

"It was horrible," Graham said. "I just didn't understand any of it. I told him about my condition. Punching me over and over in the eye is obviously excessive force. He could have handled it a lot differently."

Anyone else notice how much our cops & military have changed under Obama’s leadership?
Maybe it’s got to do with this administration’s lawlessness but we’ve got a real problem lately with those who have always been the ‘good guys’, suddenly acting (as a group) completely corrupt, abusive, controlling, power hungry, careless etc. etc.
They behave like they’re suddenly of a KGB mindset where the constitution is out the window.
How far off can we be from our judiciary & law enforcement making us pay bribe money for them to do their job or suffer the consequences? It happens in S America all the time...It’s a way of life there. We’re headed that way real quick.

I see the wisdom of reading further. No doubt she has dispatched countless ninjas with her fists of death. I understand shaolin monks can hit you so hard your grandfather will die.

“Instead of going Rambo, the officer should have recognized what he was dealing with.”

There’s your problem! A lot of LEOs have size 44 uniforms, size 4 hats, and a burning desire to beat the $h!t out of anyone for even the flimsiest reasons. They seem to not realize that they need to be the “adult.” Oh America, how far you have fallen when you read stuff like this.

Just how did she "square off" against Officer Fife when she was carrying a dog and a cell phone?

Cross-examining Barney on this fact pattern is a trial lawyer's wet dream.

I am not a police officer and have never worked in such a stressful environment to understand their thinking. With that said, I cannot comprehend a scenario with two officers present necessitating such force as to brutally beat a woman in the face to subdue her. The assaulting officer should be behind bars.

Many years ago I saw a similar confrontation at a bus stop between a woman who looked like she was mentally challenged and two police officers. I was across the street as they were beating the crap out of her. I shouted at them to stop it; they did for just a moment and yelled something at me that indicated that I was next.

This was before cell phones; I went to a pay phone and called the police and was connected by dispatch to a police sergent whose only interest was covering for his officers and started accusing me of criminally interfering with his officer’s work. I went home and told my parents about it. I believe that they complained to someone, but nothing was done.

I have never been in any trouble with the police, but the incident caused me to distrust the them. Even now when I work with them on a daily basis I still remember that many are capable of misusing their power.

Even now, some posters still cling to a “blame the victim mentality”, doing all sorts of mental gymnastics to justify Criminal Government Employee Behavior.

Quite classy. “Joking” that a victim of assault has had her looks “improved”.

Agreed. If you fantasize about hitting women (or men) without cause, you need help.

“BTW - the “stop resisting” crap is the “tell” in this story. The fascistleece scream that when they’re about to beat the crap out of you. If they were REALLY not in control of the situation, they’d be too busy to think of shouting it...”

Exactly.
