In an interview on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show on Tuesday night, Republican Florida Sen. Marco Rubio indicated that he would not support the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill he had helped author unless it is changed.

Earlier in the day, Rubio had said that immigration reform was still short of the 60 votes it needs to pass the Senate.

Rubio has been for amnesty from day 1. He toned his pro illegal stance somewhat when he saw the backlash from conservatives.

The downside of voting for the Dem in order to punish these guys is getting less and less every day.

We still get the same crap shoved down our pieholes either way.

Rubio has been getting absolutely DESTROYED on his talk show tour. And Hewitt is a pretty friendly audience.

It's not nice to fool your supporters.

Pray tell, oh falling star, is it getting harder to see your way in the dimming light of your fading future, Marco?

I wish I knew why Levin and Limbaugh continue to give Rubio the benefit of the doubt.

Sorry. “Hispanic” is a made-up demographic.

Rubio is Cuban, and most of the immigrants we are talking about are Central and South American, esp. Mexican. There is a great deal of antipathy between Mexicans (and other Central and South American ethnicities) and Cubans. Heck, speaking Cuban Spanish in Mexico can get you killed (apparently some commonly used words don’t mean the same thing between the two areas). They don’t really make much of a common cause.

I can’t believe that Rubio wouldn’t know this. I think this was purely political on his part (look at all those votes...). Or, worse, it might be moral - he might actually think that illegal aliens deserve better treatment at taxpayer expense.

Rubio is trying to broaden his power base in FL and attract some obama voting cubans/puerto ricans/etc. I don’t think he is really thinking about Mexicans now. It is obama voters he is after. FL is almost a 50/50 party split at this point.

I think he is looking at another term in the senate before he runs for POTUS. He wants to wait a bit, let amnesty kick in and is hoping a lot of people forget his role in it.

Spot on. Rubio and his ilk are nothing but infiltrators who will say and do anything (even to spouting conservative rhetoric) in order to achieve positions of power to further their true agenda. Manchurian Candidates to further a specific Progressive, Liberal, Hispanic, Black, or Homosexual agenda. Just another one of those Rules for Radicals ideas that has been so effective in destroying our government and culture.

Rubio rode the tea party wave of 2008, but he was always an ambitious Bush-family, pro-amnesty hack.

“The downside of voting for the Dem in order to punish these guys is getting less and less every day.”

Is this in regard to voting obama? I have never been a believer that voting against a particular party in order to apply punishment is anything other than self serving, or a very very very bad idea.

I’m not sure I understand the point of the above.
