I forgot to include that civilizations can also be destroyed by military invasion, natural disasters, or plagues which can happen during any stage of the cycle.

Apocalyptic times, millennial thinking becomes more commonplace in Stage 4. The fear of the people, due to civilization’s weakness, is well-founded.

Blaming whole generations is pointless. I will refer the right honorable gentlemen to my earlier post.

Besides, this gen-xer voted for Reagan. :=D

I always thought there was something of a disconnect or dissonance in the idea that people should be free to live their lives as they chose, and yet they are disparaged for choosing to end their life.

Made me think of the cliche “lies, damned lies and statistics”.

There are plenty of reasons to commit suicide.

What's amazing is how many people somehow NOT turn to suicide.

COWARDS! There is always a mess for someone else to have to clean up. Suicide is NEVER the answer.

Mess just takes an hour or two and some strong detergent.

If one can't answer the question "what is my purpose?" then neither will anyone else. Of course, if you have immediate dependents such as children then it will be a huge problem for them.

Life without God is an empty existence of chasing smoke and ash. Everything the world tells you is a lie. Pray for America to Wake Up

Life is always without God. We are entirely on our own until the hereafter.

This universe is a completely chaotic, random, and hopeless place.

I can tell you I've battled clinical depression since early in the Kenyan's first term. If anyone, it's gotten worse since the stupid electorate returned the Marxist to office.

Although more and more it's being replaced by sheer anger.

One thing I took away from the book is that suffering is a necessary part of being fulfilled.

I read that book in 12th grade 40 years ago and it has somewhat sustained me (along with religion and immediate family) for all these years. However, my prescriptions are EXACTLY THE SAME as the man in the article and some other aspects of the situation have been similar. Fortunately, a prayer was answered and my credit card debt (due to not being able to work) was reduced substantially. Without that last bit of grace things would be real gloomy and maybe even untenable about now. Why I was chosen for that I don't know. Maybe there was meaning in the suffering?

Only if you stubbornly ignore God’s creation. You made my point better than I ever could.

Pray for America to Wake Up

Sometimes we just know when we’re worthless and hated by God.

Nobody is hated by God.
People are brainwashed to believe in atheism.

Pray for America to Wake Up

Not sure I can feel your pain on that one. My parents had pickups because the roads were too bad for a car and pickups at the time didn’t have club cabs so we always lapped up or kids rode in the back if we all went somewhere together. I didn’t feel slighted by that- when my parents went to town they took one or two of us and the rest of us had to stay home and do chores. It is just how it was and I never thought twice about it.

I notice the older I get the smarter my parents get and they have both been dead for many years. I may be a slow learner but at times I wish I could go back and listen to them- I think my life would have been much easier.

I tried the “modern” ways for a while- after two failed marriages, a stressful job, and a drinking problem, I did wise up and then this amazing man that has been my hubby for over 30 years came into my life and we raised children together that are pretty self sufficient and are on their way to success in work, and they still love us and each other. Our children for some reason have had relationship issues but maybe they will wise up because it is mostly them picking the wrong people to begin with.

Who wants to live around smug and self-righteous people such as some of those posting on this thread? It’s better to off oneself!

I got to go for a ride in the car once a year to the beach. That ended before I was ten.

I thought that many boomers hadn't done sufficient retirement planning, had to continue working, didn't see an end in sight, which led to depression and suicide. Some of them thought that the '80's would last forever.
