Ohio State president: Gaffes partly due to Mormon faith, isolation in Vernal when young
The Ogden Standard Examiner ^ | June 1, 2013 | Staff

By his own admission, Gordon Gee is an unlikely university president.

Born during World War II in Vernal, Utah, Gee took an unfamiliar path to be head of one of the nation’s most prestigious schools — Ohio State University.

Now, the intelligent, quick-witted rural Utah boy finds himself embroiled in a controversy of his own making, which may be due in part to his roots.

“Despite leading universities for more than half my life, I am a most unlikely university president. Unlikely by virtue of several factors — academic background, temperament, faith, and family history,” he told the Columbus Metropolitan Club in a March 27 speech.

The speech was given after a controversial speech last December in which Gee mocked Notre Dame, Roman Catholics and the Southeastern Conference, but before accounts had been reported by the media.

On Friday, details of a March 11 letter sent to Gee by the university’s board of trustees was reported by the Associated Press. The letter said Gee’s December comments embarrassed and divided the university and run the risk of diminishing the effectiveness of its efforts.

They are much more secretive than “Jack Mormons”. They are more like RINO’s in that they play both sides of the street.

And appearances are most important.

Nitwit twit ... extraordinaire!

From this: Report: One more mistake could lead to Gordon Gee's dismissal

It was in that meeting [with the Ohio State Athletics Council] that Gee, a Mormon, talked about the Big Ten courting Notre Dame for membership, saying, "You just can't trust those damn Catholics." Gee also made jokes about schools in the SEC, saying, "When [the SEC] can learn how to read and write, then they can figure out what we're doing." He even made comments about Big Ten commissioner Jim Delany, saying, "We need to make sure [Delany] keeps his hands out of our pockets while we support him."

Is he the one that ultimately decided to have Obambi as the speaker at the commencement ceremonies this year?

Wait, I heard he had trashed the Catholic church, but I didn’t know he dissed the SEC. Okay, NOW I’m mad.

Seems old Gordo is still carrying the 1958 copy of Mormon Doctrine.

What does the Book of Mormon say about the Catholic Church? Mormon apostle Bruce R. McConkie made it clear:

“It is also to the Book of Mormon to which we turn for the plainest description of the Catholic Church as the great and abominable church. Nephi saw this ‘church which is the most abominable above all other churches’ in vision. He ‘saw the devil that he was the foundation of it’ and also the murders, wealth, harlotry, persecutions, and evil desires that historically have been a part of this satanic organization. (1 Nephi 13:1-10)”
- Mormon Doctrine, p. 130 (1958)

“Literally a harlot is a prostitute; figuratively it is any apostate church. Nephi, speaking of harlots in the literal sense and while giving a prophetic description of the Catholic Church, recorded that he ‘saw the devil that he was the foundation of it.’ ... Then speaking of harlots in the figurative sense, he designated the Catholic Church as ‘the mother of harlots’ (1 Nephi 13:34; 14:15-17), a title which means that the protestant churches, the harlot daughters which broke off from the great and abominable church, would themselves be apostate churches.”
- Mormon Doctrine, pp. 314-315 (1958)

When you see this sign you are here. I make coffee every morning when artists are here or if we have tours. August 23-25 is very busy as we have our big show called Maynard Dixon Country that week.

The reference to “20th centurty values” was part of Gee’s apology statement or letter or the university’s reprimand letter that he had to move off 20th century morals or values.

I guess that is why he jumped coach Meyer last year when he had the weaker players wearing pink or lavender shirts in practice, and the Gay community went bat-crap crazy.

Urban had to apologize to anyone who may have been offended, living or dead

Just checked the maps - I tented in Southern Utah about 15 years ago and loved the country; it is truly extraordinary. Should I pass through again, I’ll stop for a coffee!

Note point 2 of Gee’s “remediation plan:

As Strother Martin once said, in Cool Hnad Luke, “You gotta get your mind right, boy!”

My cousin(who is conservative and Catholic) graduated from OSU last month. A pity she had to deal with this guy and Zero at her commencement.

This false stereotype is so old I am surprised anyone would have the brazen temerity to crawl out of an old stinky hole with it. Got Bigotry??

The national LDS needs to be boycotted. All Mormon-owned businesses need to be boycotted - NATIONALLY, until they relent on their criminal support for illegal alien amnesty. The LDS is now - unknown to most Americans - a principal force along with La Raza, in pushing amnesty for 30+ million illegals. It was a Mormon judge - Murray Snow - whose father is a bigwig in the LDS leadership and who himself has strong ties, who recently ruled that Sheriff Joe Arpaio was “racial profiling” so-called “Latinos” in his immigration arrests. Snow did his missionary work in Mexico and speaks fluent Spanish, and had no business being on the bench for this case. In addition, the LDS orchestrated the recall of AZ Senate Pres. Russell Pearce, the author of SB1070.

I fear with the expectations of the Bucks returning as national championship contenders and the upcoming playoff system, there will be too pressure to win and all of the accompanying temptations associated with that pressure.I love nothing more to see the Buckeyes win, but at what additional cost to the University's reputation? Myer is a great coach, recruiter, and appears to be a decent person, but he is only human. IMO, football controls TOSU, and not the other way around. The same can be said of other big time powers. Money creates power, and power corrupts. My complaint should not have been against Myer but rather the direction that big time college football has taken.
