May 26, 2013 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- At least 17 people have been shot over the Memorial Day weekend, and six of them died.
The most recent victim was a man shot on the Near North Side just before 3 a.m. Sunday. Chicago police say the 42-year-old victim was shot in the head in the 1000-block of North Branch Street.
Another man died after he was shot in the head in a possible drive-by Saturday night in the 7300-block of South Dorchester.
Among the other victims was Leetema Daniels, 17, who was shot in the head Friday night in the 400-block of North Central Avenue. Another 18-year old man was seriously wounded in the same shooting.

....what is needed is what we have around the U.S......................namely, the more weapons in the hands of the good guys the less crime there is!
If Chicago would follow the best state model, which means a state with large urban areas but CCW, their crime would go down IF and only IF they prosecute existing gun laws which they are too lazy to do. They are looking for a quick and eash fix!
and it was a crappy chilly weekend thus far, think how many would have got it if it’d been nicer....

Not true. Criminals can only function where they are permitted to function.
Come June 9th, Illinois is likely to go for gun liberty by default, and the big drop in crime is projected so much that Rahm Emanuel has already tried to claim credit for it.
The Chicago situation is exacerbated right now because the two major crime gangs that used to dominate the city have both been broken up. Fragmented, some of the tiny gangs control as little as a single block of territory.
And if three or four honest citizens on that block get guns, it will neutralize the ability of the local gang to maintain control.
The big question is how rapidly law and order will be restored. It may literally be in as little as a few weeks to a few months.
And yes, a lot of criminals will die before this happens, before they get the message.
It will be a sight to see, and gun liberty advocates will have a full scale, real world model to show what happens when gun liberty exists.
They are trying to top last years numbers. I’m sure by the 4th of July the count will triple .
If they work at it, they can go for the record. Got a day left....

It was the lowest number of homicides in Chicago at April 30th in 50 years.
Sadly, their illegal birth rate far exceeds their wanton murder rate.
IMO Chicago is being set up to fine-tune procedures for martial law. Same as Cyprus showed the way to clean out our bank accounts, Venazuela showed the way to install communism in a country totally and fairly bloodlessly.
No doubt, armed law abiding citizens will drive crime down if Chicago actually gets ccw, but I’m not sure I beleive that will happen to any great extent. BTW, Detroit has ccw and many armed citizens that kill criminals regularily, yet they still have very high crime rates.
Was anyone stabbed or beat to death? I’m guessing there must be some killings that didn’t use guns.
