A French soldier patrolling a business neighborhood west of Paris was stabbed in the neck on Saturday by a man who quickly fled the scene and is being sought by police, President Francois Hollande said.
The soldier was patrolling in uniform with two other men as part of France's Vigipirate anti-terrorist surveillance plan when he was approached from behind around 1800 p.m. and stabbed in the neck with a knife or a box-cutter.

Peyvel said the man was able to flee into a crowded shopping area in the La Defense business neighborhood before the two other soldiers, who were walking in front of him, were able to react.
French daily Le Parisien cited a police source as saying the suspected attacker was a bearded man of North African origin about 30 years old, and was wearing an Arab-style garment under his jacket.
However, Peyvel declined to confirm or deny that description and said further details about the attacker's identity would be forthcoming.

BIG difference, unless the 2nd Amendment is neutered illegally by 0traitor&Co, somehow. They’re working on it.
They also have a national police force (Gendarmerie nationale) that is sort of a border patrol. You see them at subway stations, train stations, airports, highways, etc.
At the national landmark sites like the Eiffel Tower or the Arch De Triomph, those are usually more elite units like paratroopers or sometimes even the Foreign Legion if there have been verifiable public threats.

Probably. When I was in Paris two years ago I saw two gendarmes patrolling an area where a lot of African immigrants scam tourists.
They looked like military personnel, with berets, fatigues and FAMAS rifles at their sides. Tough looking dudes.
National Police carry pistols too, that’s one thing they have over the Brits.
That’s a story not being taught in America’s government schools. Find a good source and email the story to your list. There was a very good post about it here on FR not too long back.

Turns out the people I saw were actually soldiers based on the photos you posted, I thought they were gendarmes but their uniforms weren’t blue.
Thank God the soldier will survive.

They aren’t armed. They’re carrying unloaded rifles. I only saw a single loaded magazine in the entire group of photos and no evidence it contains any bullets.
Sounds like the French version of Security Theater. I’d rather the French let their people be armed.

It's certainly an option. But it gets pretty cold in most places, at night and in winter.

The French (and the Swedes, and the Brits, and the Americans) have only themselves to blame; these savages are imported because the native populations won’t reproduce themselves. That leaves less of them to vote for their own interests, and they quickly recede into irrelevance (as is happening here - note Obama’s lack of mention of the predominantly white middle class).
