(CNN) - He's running.

Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul announced Friday he will be on ballots in November 2016, but he told voters in his home state that they might be the only ones with a chance to vote for him.

The freshman Republican senator was returning to Kentucky from visits to a trio of states that hold sway in the presidential nominating process, visits which further stoked the speculation about his presidential interests. He indicated his intention to be on the ballot for re-election that year, but downplayed any White House ambitions.

"For now, (what) we know for sure is we're going to run for the U.S. Senate," he said, according to a report from The Independent. "The other decision can come later."

Paul posted online a link to a separate report on his appearance at the Woodford County Republican Dinner, one which did not include the quote. Both articles noted state law allows him to run simultaneously for the White House and re-election to his Senate seat.

Earlier this week he spoke at a GOP fundraising dinner in New Hampshire and before that appeared at events in Iowa and South Carolina.

He has been upfront with his interest in potentially running for the White House, but at the dinner in New Hampshire focused his attention on the party.

Alan West? Absolutely! He’s top-level with me.

Palin/Cruz/West... cream-of-the-crop trio. Three GOP-er’s that I still have confidence and trust in. I can’t say that about many others. To put it mildly.

My choice is Rand or Cruz. And Trey Gowdy had better get out there and run against Linseed Graham...Trey needs our support..he is a fighter, articulate, knows his business and he is fearless.

Would rather see Cruz stay in the Senate for a long time.

Only a non-white has a chance to beat the democrats/socialists

Niki Haley
Cruz
Cain
Susan Martinez

Maybe a woman has a chance
Palin

Republicans have only run a white male for Prezident . Democrats and the media play identity politics.

The news media will try to choose the GOP candidate another white male they can beat

Ummm no . Cruz place of birth =Calgary, Canada

In the Naturalization Act of 1790, children born at sea, or outside the country, were determined to be "natural born citizens." I realize that there are contradictory claims and evidence, but the idea makes sense to me, especially when compared to the alternative.

Regardless, it appears that the courts have already decided the point. Texas Republican Sen. Cruz eligible to be president should he decide to run

A lot of people on this thread, mostly the usual suspects, arguing against Rand.

How does his stance on the border match what is being said? His plan was to “give them a path” that includes going back to their home Country and applying like everyone else. It also calls for a secured border.

If any of you have a better plan, i’m sure there are a lot of people who’d like to hear it...

It also tosses out his stance on abortion, gun rights, property rights, limited government, our role as Globo-cop, and free markets.

If you folks can hold your nose and vote for Mc-Amnesty and Willard “Obamacare” Romney... Then Rand ought to be an easy pick by comparisson.

Unless... There is more to it than just principles. Like the same old RINO bullshite we wade through every election cycle that filters out all the good canddiates and leaves us with the least common denomenator.

Get your heads right folks. Play time is officially over.

I quickly corrected myself in a following thread. It was “gay adoption” that Ryan gave a thumbs-up to, not “gay marriage.” Just as bad, if not worse. Coupled with Ryan joining Rubio in trying to sell his rancid amnesty plan (even joining Luis “La Raza” Guiterrez on stage at an event, pushing it)... all I can say is that there is no way in hell I’ll ever give Ryan my vote, should he be the 2016 nominee.

I think if one understands that the immigration bill was set up not to pass, then you understand what’s going on here. Cheap easy way for some republicans to have the appearance of being pro latino, but at the risk of ticking off conservatives.

Newt suggests bringing this down to the neighborhood level. Any illegal is given thirty days to leave. He can return legally with a card registration that allows him or her to work and get a special drivers license.

I really don’t understand why we have to allow illegals to become legal in one sweep of the hand.

I don’t think Cruz would WANT TO debate Palin- and I would hate to see it.

They agree on so much, it would be more like a love-fest

Palin's record is not as fiscally prudent as touted, nor was her byzantine tax policy on oil companies particularly successful.

I noticed Sarah Palin, a non-candidate, rated #3 in a recent poll as likely candidates.

One in ten chance, at this point.
