Menendez: Immigration bill doesn’t have votes to pass Senate [Disinformation? Or Good News?]
The Hill ^ | 5/24/13 | Jonathan Easley

Posted on 05/24/2013 5:22:25 PM PDT by SoFloFreeper

Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) said Friday that the “Gang of Eight” immigration bill doesn’t have enough votes to pass the Senate.

The bill won approval from the Senate Judiciary Committee in a 13-5 vote, but Menendez said it lacks the 60 votes necessary to clear the Senate — despite the bill's four Republican co-sponsors.

“We don’t currently have 60 votes identified in the Senate,” Menendez said in an interview with Univision. “We need to add more votes on the floor. That means that the community in your state, in every state, should be contacting your state’s two U.S. Senators saying that they want comprehensive immigration reform, that they are going to judge their political future based on this vote.”

Two possibilities here, as I see it:

1. Menendez is spreading lies...he is doing so at the behest of the Assclown and Dingy Harry in order to calm conservative fears...to make us "feel better" for the moment while he and his fellow thugs arm twist.

2. Menendez is speaking the TRUTH...and really wants to get people to call their Senators to pass amnesty.

Either way, we must convince the Senate (and the House, if it comes to that) to NOT pass amnesty.

They always say this right before they pass something.

The longer this is jammed up in the Senate the better.

No something else, this is all noise.....

Obama has been spending a lot of time with Crispy Creme...

Rumors was just a month or two back, tht Lautenberg is not well and Menedez still has a 15 yr old Domenican Hooker problem that has gone away for now...

What if Obama is greasing the skids for Crispy to appoint one or two Dem's should both of these Turkeys be out of the Senate soon?

The traitors in Washington are determined to replace American voters with Mexicans.

I dutifully sent off letters to my two worthless Democrat senators asking that they immediately sponsor legislation for the benefit of Americans that's equal to the tax forgiveness clause in the Amnesty bill.

I sure could use a major refund from the gub'mnt for two of my tax bills over the last 5 years!~

So, far, no response but no reason a Republican couldn't submit that as an amendment ~ big ol'tax cut for everybody, including Bill Gates ($20 billion back perhaps?) and Warren Buffett. What's not to like!

Once Obama sees the scandals continuing to gain traction, I believe this Senate will invoke the nuclear option so they only need 50 votes to ram all future legislation down our throats.
They have broken the law everyday that they’ve been in power and they’re really going to pull out all the stops soon.

Its closer to #2...

As more info comes out...it will be harder to pass bill. And, there will be Dem senators in red states up for reelection....supporting $6 trillion amnesty bill will not win votes

Menendez needs Hispanics/Illegals to push for support

The pro-amnesty bill commercials I have heard on Hannity and Rush are so intellectually and factually insulting ("Conservative plan" my backside!) I scream at the radio at every lie they utter.

But you gotta love 'em -- they (Sean/Rush) are pure Capitalists!

Exactly.

Let me paraphrase the late Mary McCarthy: every word they say is a lie, including 'and' and 'the.'"

Don't believe anything these bags of slime tell you, regardless of whether it reinforces or contradicts pre-existing assumptions you have.

Crapitalists, more like it.

You're right though. Those commercials are so cretinous it makes you wonder what sort of mouth-breathers created them.

Forget about Rubio and Ryan, we need to make the face of this bill Mark Zuckerberg.

Maybe I’m missing something, but they got 5 votes to get it out of committee, so add that to the 55 votes that the Dems have in the Senate (thanks to Akin) and they have their 60 votes.

That assumes the 5 Republicans stick with it...and it’s hard to believe they’ll change now, and that no Dems oppose - of which I haven’t heard a single complaint, from a single Dem.

There's "pure capitalism" and then there's crony capitalism. I don't think that we're seeing pure capitalism.

Yep.

They always pull the “We don’t have enough votes” feint to pretend the vote isn’t rigged privately beforehand.

They don’t hold votes on a “whim.”

They’ve either brokered the deal beforehand, or they don’t hold the vote.

I’m sure there’s an exception to this rule, but it generally holds true. I’m sure in 1977 they held some vote where they weren’t 100% sure how it would turn out.

The ruse/announcement is an effort to make us think we still live in a Representative Republic, where politicians arrive to vote their values and character.

After this IRS crap, they’re not fooling anybody.

I laugh when I hear a commercial on the radio with Rubio. He says that with this bill, those who are going through the process to become legal will not received welfare. Effing liar.

Rubio probably lost any support from me with that. I hate liars.
