Unreal.

In an explosive new bombshell report, the New Yorker’s Ryan Lizza claims that the Obama administration deliberately kept Fox News reporter James Rosen in the dark about the warrant to search through his personal emails.

Some new info in the leak case that targeted Fox's James Rosen coming shortly...— Ryan Lizza (@RyanLizza) May 24, 2013

Fox News should issue untraceable throwaway cell phones to its reporters.

This really is nothing unusual. This was a judge-issued warrant to search e-mails and tap phones.

When feds do this with mobsters, they never tell the bad guys they were doing it, unless they hit pay dirt and it comes up at trial (the existence of the warrant and what evidence they got as a result).

If they come up with nothing, they do not send out a letter saying, Sorry. Our bad. We snooped for nothing.”

I hate to say it, but nothing to see here.

BUT I am all for lame stream media squawking about anything to make noise on thse scandals.

Hopefully it makes the WH feel embattled. Bunker mentality sets in.

"As far as I know, they have to serve the warrant on the person who controls the property to be searched. In this case, that was Google"

"Two Out Of Three Cases Where Google Gives User Data To Government Don't Involve A Warrant
1/23/2013 @ 12:10PM

It may be easier than you think for government entities to demand the private data you’ve stored on Google’s servers. Most of the time, it doesn’t even require a judge’s signature. On Wednesday Google released its semi-annual Transparency Report, its voluntary admission of how many times it removed data from its services or quietly handed users’ information to government agencies in the last six months. Between July and December of 2012, Google says it received 8,438 U.S. government requests for its users’ data and complied to some degree in 88% of those cases. That’s up a remarkable 33% from the 6,321 data requests Google received in the same period the year before, and marks a 70% increase since Google first started issuing its Transparency Reports in 2009. But the new wrinkle in Google’s data is a breakdown of how many of those requests approached Google with a search warrant: Just 22%, according to the company. By contrast, 68% of requests were issued only with a subpoena, which unlike warrants don’t require showing a judge “probable cause”–solid evidence that the data was relevant to a crime. (The other 10% of the requests involved some sort of court order or other miscellaneous process.)"

"Are we taking bets as to when Holder will resign?"

Holder, resign?

I would bet on "never."

They are all above the law, starting with the usurper, and nobody is holding them to account.

Ask the old CIA director what the FBI can find when they start digging. James is lucky he didn’t have any skeletons in his email like the general did.

Note that I’m not saying that what they did here was OK. It wasn’t - it was a clear and egregious act of intimidation against the press. Just that they seem to have *technically* complied with 4th amendment requirements.

Are you kidding? On a day when The Prince decides to get right in our faces with the Nuland nomination I seriously doubt he’s going to ask for Holder’s rezzie. In fact, he’ll probably double down and insist that Eric do further damamge to the Constitution. He really is daring us to do something (not saying what)......

Has he testified otherwise or something?

Yes. Holder testified fairly recently to a congressional committee (House, IIRC) that he had "no knowledge" of anyone in the press being targeted. He had signed the Rosen warrant request himself. I believe that he was testifying under oath at the time. There was an FR thread about this, I'll see if I can find a link to it.

more from link, sounds like he wanted it open ended, basically fishing

...He argued that disclosure of the search warrant would preclude the government from monitoring the account, should such a step become necessary in the investigation. Machen added that “some investigations are continued for many years because, while the evidence is not yet sufficient to bring charges, it is sufficient to have identified criminal subjects and/or criminal activity serious enough to justify continuation of the investigation.”

Machen insisted the investigation would be compromised if Rosen was informed of the warrant, and also asked the court to order Google not to notify Rosen that the company had handed over Rosen’s e-mails to the government.

“Fox News needs to stop being Obama Supporter....”

Boy that would get a laugh in the news rooms of ABC, SeeBS, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, PBS, AP, NY/LA Times..., you know those fair and balanced networks/papers.

We should not want another cheerleader even if they were to cheer for our side as we are seeing what happens when any administration gets media cover up 24/7. 100% guarantee you that the GOP would be just as corrupt with similar cover by the MSM.

We should want all media outlets to go after ALL politicians and every level of government. That’s their job which they are no longer doing.

It's easy when you operate as a self appointed Star Chamber.
