Grapevine, TX – Following the vote today by the Boy Scouts of America’s voting delegates to pass the resolution allowing “open and avowed homosexuality” in the Boy Scouts, John Stemberger, Founder of OnMyHonor.Net, a coalition of members of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) including parents, Scoutmasters, Eagle Scouts and other Scouting leaders who affirm Scouting’s timeless values, made the following statement:
“It is with great sadness and deep disappointment that we recognize on this day that the most influential youth program in America has turned a tragic corner. The vote today to allow open and avowed homosexuality into Scouting will completely transform it into an unprincipled and risky proposition for parents. It is truly a sad day for Scouting.
The Boy Scouts of America has a logo that bears the phrase ‘Timeless Values.’ Today, the BSA can no longer use this phrase in good faith. It has demonstrated by its actions that the organization’s values are not timeless, and instead they are governed by changing tides of polls, politics and public opinion.
The saddest part of today’s decision is what the organization is teaching our children and young people in the program.
The BSA is teaching our kids that when your values become unpopular, just change them.
The BSA is teaching our kids that when your convictions are challenged, just cave to peer pressure.
The BSA is teaching our kids that public opinion polls are more important than principles.
Today, the BSA is teaching our kids that you should not stand up for what is right instead you should stand up for what is popular.
The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to “prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law.”
BSA is teaching our kids through its new mission that we don’t make ethical and moral choices through the values of the Scout Oath and Scout Law but we make them like an unprincipled politician does, by putting your finger in the air and seeing which way the wind is blowing or by looking at the latest polling results.
What kind of a message are we sending to young people about being brave when its top adult leaders don’t even have the courage to stand up to the pressure of a militant lobby when the bullies in Washington DC, Hollywood or even some of their own renegade councils start pressuring and harassing them?
Each and every one of the thousands of Scouting families that have supported and followed our movement must now make a very difficult decision. We respect the right for each parent and family to decide whether they will continue their membership in the Boy Scouts of American or not.
Many, like me and my family, cannot continue to support an organization more concerned with the intolerant demands of activists while compromising the safety and security of the young people they swore to serve. In July of last year, after a two year study from 2010 to 2012, the BSA’s eleven member task force unanimously concluded that their existing policy on this issue was “the absolute best policy for the Boy Scouts of America.” Suddenly, less than a year later, that is abruptly reversed.
We hoped to keep sex and politics out of Scouting. Now we grieve for those young boys who will not have the wonderful traditions and experiences that so many of us have had in Scouting.
Despite this setback, we will look to the future. I am pleased to announce that OnMyHonor.Net along with other likeminded organizations, parents and BSA members, are announcing a coalition meeting that will take place next month in Louisville, Kentucky. There we will discuss the creation of a new character development organization for boys. While the meeting will be private, your voice is very important to us and will be represented there. We will host and facilitate a national coalition meeting of former BSA parents and other youth leaders who wish to return to truly timeless values that once made the BSA great. Parents with normal boys need to just pull them out of the Scouts. Leave the pup tents to the “gay” scouts and their “gay leaders”.

While I support an alternative to the ruined BSA, I think it would be better for them to work with Royal Rangers or Christian Service Brigade or similar, rather than start another alternative.
Can someone explain how boys of 11 to 17 know that they are homosexual? Because they like Barbra Streisand and Bette Midler? Certainly they don’t have much actual sexual experience of any kind. The is all just a bunch of malarkey. The homosexuals just wanted to destroy another piece of decency. They get their orgasms using other people’s digestive tracts. It truly is an insane thing to do. A kid would only have homosexual sex if he was forced into it.
Agreed. As some one else posted, I feel like a friend has passed away. Pretty sad. My boys had planned on going to camps this summer. Not any longer. I'm pulling them out of the BSA programs, scouts and cub scouts.
In my mind, the fags won another. By now our grandfathers would have been shooting.
When a civilization becomes decadent, decadence suffuses everything.
But it is always darkest just before the dawn. If Jesus delays his coming for a long while, we may yet have a revival, because God does send revival. Or if he comes in our lifetime, we are witness to and participants in the brightest dawn in all human history. I fail to see a downside to this.
The goal for a long time has been to destroy Boy Scouting, because it represents morality in society; they have succeeded.

Why is BSA establishing policy that recognizes the declared sexual behavior of minors? Are the directors pedophiles?
Don’t disagree with your assessment. As a former Life Scout myself, I will say that I owe a lot of my personal story to the Scouts. This is a disgusting change of heart on their part, and I will personally see to it that my yet-to-be-born children do not take part in this travesty if that means I have to teach them the Scout way of life myself.
People who are morally upright pretty much have to pull their children out of the BSA at this point. To compromise with moral filth is a violation of the BSA oath itself.
I understand the desire, in some quarters of the BSA, to help children who are struggling with same sex attractions, but that’s not what this change is about. From what I understand, they voted to accept openly vocal homosexuals without condemning homosexuality itself. In other words, a gay scout will be able to come out, propagandize other scouts (without actually having sex with them—that’s still against policy), and be able to stay a member.
Homosexuality is either wrong or not. You can’t help someone to be morally straight if you can’t distinguish between what is moral and what is not moral. In this case, the BSA has voted to say homosexuality is not immoral—the children just can’t physically act on it.
These gay scouts who come out are doing so for a very specific reason. They are proud of their perversion, want to normalize it, and want to silence anyone who disagrees. Will morally upright scouts who disagree with homosexuality still be permitted to speak about it? Will scout leaders be able to tell a flamboyantly homosexual scout they’re doing something evil? Eh, very unlikely.
I truly hope the BSA is destroyed over this, but people keep compromising with the evil that’s spreading through America and the world. Can’t we have an organization these days that doesn’t compromise with evil?????

If this policy change can’t be quickly reversed, I hope and pray the BSA is destroyed by this. Time and time again we see our institutions corrupted, but far too many people are willing to take positive steps to do anything about it. The BSA, in particular, was meant to set a moral standard for boys and young men. If the organization isn’t punished for this in a severe way, the homosexuals and their morally corrupt supporters will get away with this policy change, and have no doubt—they intend to keep fighting for more concessions.
So how can the BSA now prevent a homosexual scout from growing up to be a scout leader???? That’s the next battle, and now that corruption has wedged the door open, the policy against homosexual leaders is next on the list. Oh, it will be against policy for the homosexual leaders to have sex with the young boys and men, but they’ll ultimately be allowed to join.
Many churches have compromised in much the same way, and those churches are now mostly apostate. It’s impossible to be morally straight (or Christian) if one is a vocal, unrepentant proponent of homosexuality.
Strike the tents, Boys, it’s all over with.
When it's all said and done, probably very few gay boys will ever participate in BSA before it is disbanded due to nonparticipation.
I am a Scoutmaster. Our meeting was last night 5/23. I tended my resignation effective 12/31/2013, or sooner if the Troop Committee sees fit. Several Scouts including my two sons, one 6 months from Eagle and the other about 1 year away from Eagle, also said that they are leaving on that date. Several other Scouts will follow. This is a heart breaking day.
With this policy a Scout must choose between being true to the Scout Oath and Law as they are intended, or remain in Scouting. We choose the Oath and Law.
