In the BSA’s official “Voice of the Scout” survey, which indicates a change in policy would prompt a mass exodus of scouts and leaders, respondents supported the current policy by a supermajority of 61 percent to 34 percent.
The Scouts count more than 2.7 million members and more than 1 million volunteers.
The resolution is a revision of a proposal issued in January that would have allowed local troops to decide whether or not to accept openly homosexual members and leaders. ..

Tragic for the future of children and young men everywhere.
My granddaughters belong to American Heritage Girls (www.ahgonline.org), a “Judeo-Christian focused” group. Formed in 1995 they seem to have grown to good numbers with a significant presence in Northern VA. Might there be a similar group formed of those who will become disillusioned with a reformed BSA?
Certainly adult supervision by Homosexuals in the boy scouts can be argued against easily.
But the argument not to let openly homosexual boys is not so easily won.
But let us remember that boys as old as 17 can be scouts.
I believe that is the age I am not certain.
Do you really believe a 17 year old openly homosexual scout should be camping with your 12 year old?
I sure don’t.
If the scouts allow open homosexual to remain in scouting they may as well close their doors.
And the sad thing is, once they pull that trigger, and Scouting implodes. . . they’re going to blame it on the “haters”. . .
Many of the kids are HINO. Claiming to be gay is just a way to get attention. My gay Scout became gay when his family life imploded. He is very popular with girls and I think he has succumbed to that now.
I’d rather know if they think they are gay. Ignorance is not bliss in that instance.
A way the boy scouts could resolve this is to ‘allow’ members (boy scouts) who are gay to join, as long as they renounce homosexual behavior/lifestyle as immoral.
The problem becomes when you make certain specific behavior a civil right based on minority status that is solely based on feelings (the victims)
If they vote homos out, then they get a little bad publicity (who cares), and lose 10-15%enrollment.

But, if they adopt Homos in at any level, a bigger percentage will leave say 20-60%???
I doubt the program would ever again be effective growth tool.
the purpose here , my opinion, is really just that....to destroy another institution founded on principles.....

I think that there are no queer 11 year olds. Therefore, there are no queers becoming scouts at 11
A boy is a scout until 18. At 18 he becomes an adult and an assistant scoutmaster. In most troops that doesn’t happen frequently because boys drop out around 15.
In large troops there is a cadre of older boys that are participants in various high adventure activities and programs. They are the troop backbone and leadership.It would be my thought that the few queer scouts would gravitate to one of these troops. That is, there would eventually be troops that are queer.
I would say about 60+% would immediately resign from the Scouts.
I suppose the phrase “morally straight” will have to be removed from the Boy Scout pledge.

That is what I getting at, 20 years ago conservatives would argue that they are not against any types people (for who they are), but against certain behaviors and beliefs.
But now its seems that all (publicly known) Conservatives have surrendered on gays and gay lifestyle.
Their lame last ditch position now goes something like :
‘I have nothing against gays and believe in equality too, but I sill believe that marriage is between a man and a woman because that is what my parents taught me’
Weak argument that is really not one.
Do nothing Boy Scouts.
Do not change.
I’m serious. Remain true to your past.
How can you justify homosexuals in one without allowing it in the other? The Scouts fought a long legal battle to safeguard their right to admit who they want to. They shouldn't toss all that away.
You mean like the UK Scouts apparently do?
