This brings to mind the horrendous decisions made involving completely vulnerable and innocent persons years ago in Canada. It was between 1986 and 1990. The Canadian Red Cross was the sole supplier of blood plasma. They had got donors from Russia and run down areas of big cities in the US. Prisoners were also donors of blood.

1100 people got HIV and 20,000 got Hepatitis C. It was alleged the Red Cross, a multi-million dollar agency cut costs. They were informed of a device marketed in the US costing nearly 200,000 dollars that could either screen or cleanse the blood. They did not purchase it.

Now we are informed of the decision to use blood from the "gay community". I believe the Red Cross out of the transfusion business. I am reminded of a question put years ago to a "human rights person". It was this:

If you are to have a blood transfusion and the medical personnel are directed bring the plasma, which would you choose- the blood donated by heterosexuals or homosexuals? Or would it just not matter which?

Crickets!

I’d rather be homophobe than dead-o-phobe.

There were sound health reasons why gays were not allowed to give blood...now folks in Canada will pay for HomoPhilia

Does anyone else recall back in the early 80’s when AIDS was a new thing, that a homosexual said that the only way they’d get government funding for AIDS research was if it spread into the straight community. He said they were planning to give blood to spread it. It was on a network interview show, I don’t remember which one.

I knew a couple with a bunch of kids. Dad was hemophiliac. This was back in the 80s. Dad received AIDS-tainted blood, then infected the mom. Both died in probably their late 30s.

Your post #25.

Nice to read something more positive on this awful type of unlooked for life threatening infection . Thank goodness your friend is a survivor.

Once again my unqualified admiration for those unsung heroes of research. Persons who discover new methods to address that scourge of humanity, that of death dealing contagious diseases.

...doesn't mean they get YOUR blood...

Maybe your blood isn't the right blood type for them.

The last time I gave blood was last month and the questions hadn't changed--they were still trying to exclude men who had had sex with men or others who might have been exposed to HIV, along with mad cow disease and certain other things.

My friend survives because her husband researched Chinese Medicine...and she uses herbs....she could not take the typical drugs for Hep C...she had already had 2 heart surgeries....she survives...unfortunately, he has since passed away of a blood cancer, unrelated, obviously...

I don’t think I made myself clear....my husband and a friend both have a somewhat rare blood type, A-, I believe, and if the friend gave blood specifically for my husband, we were told that he wouldn’t get the friend’s blood necessarily, but any A- blood they had on hand....no matter who provided it.

Homosexuals who donate blood want AIDS to be "It's Not Just A Gay Disease". ANd their leftists followers want the same thing. They're pushing here for faggots to be able to donate blood.

Anyone wanting on/off either ping list, freepmail me.
