This woman is a criminal.
On the other hand, Scooter Libby, who was not a criminal, should have done the same thing. No trial; no legal fees; no conviction.

I have to say, I am enjoying the delicious irony of a member of the Obama administration, which has done it’s level best to destroy the Constitution, choosing to hide behind the very document they are trying so hard to abolish.
Think for a moment about what government agency you just commented on. It strongly appears that having a conscience is NOT one of the prerequisites for obtaining a position within the IRS.

Someone on another thread mentioned that once a witness has given a statement, he/she cannot plead the 5th.
The point is that once you give your side of the story, you cannot refuse to be questioned about that story.
So I'm guessing that it's Lerner and her handlers who messed up here.

Didn’t she blow it? You cannot profess your innocence and then invoke the Fifth Amendment. It is an all or nothing rule. Since she protests her innocence, her invoking the Fifth should be ineffective.
I think I’ll use the same statements when I fill out my 1040 next year.
“I have not done anything wrong, I have not broken any laws. I hereby envoke my 5th Amendment rights and will not answer any of these Obamacare questions.”
All she has to do at this point is pull a Hillary and answer every question with "I don't recall."
The GOP allows her to give a self-serving statement(which is playing on
TV News Programs) but does not counter that by asking her some tough
questions and either she answers or pleads the fifth(which is not playing
on TV News).
The GOP just got rolled in public relations by Lerner.
And her self serving statement is what is playing on news broadcast now.
What a mistake.
