WASHINGTON – A top IRS official in the division that reviews nonprofit groups will invoke the Fifth Amendment and refuse to answer questions before a House committee investigating the agency’s improper screening of conservative nonprofit groups.

Lois Lerner, the head of the exempt organizations division of the IRS, won’t answer questions about what she knew about the improper screening – or why she didn’t reveal it to Congress, according to a letter from her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd.

Lerner was scheduled to appear before the House Oversight committee Wednesday.

DOCUMENT: The Inspector General’s report on the IRS

“She has not committed any crime or made any misrepresentation but under the circumstances she has no choice but to take this course,” said a letter by Taylor to committee Chairman Darrell E. Issa, R-Calif. The letter, sent Monday, was obtained Tuesday by the Los Angeles Times.

Our Lords and Masters are not accountable, nor do they feel they owe anything to us. She will smile with glee as she leaves the hearing, knowing that she will face no consequences whatsoever, and that We The People will simply put up with one more grotesque violation.

all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism

Will this affect her current job of administering Obamacare for the IRS or is this just a career enhancer?

At least she’s being honest, rather than saying she doesn’t recall. She’s tacitly admiting guilt.

Subpoena the underlings, offer them immunity to talk and implicate their bosses and take it as high up the food chain as you can (hopefully, Zero will be there in the net, too!).

5th amendment invocation says they believe there may have been a crime they committed, which automatically should result in a special prosecutor.

Nothing “improper” about fixing an election.
It’s criminal.

Her defense lawyer, William W. Taylor 3rd notified Issa!

They’re all guilty.

“You know what” rolls downhill.

Should we waterboard her before or after? I say both to make sure her story doesn’t change.

Testifying before Congress is a Civil proceeding.

There is no 5th amendment protection in a civil proceeding.

When someone refuses to answer a question in a civil proceeding, the answer is deemed to be whatever the questioner says it is.

The person is also held to be in contempt.

Well, 48 hours from “nothing happened” to “I decline to answer on the grounds that it may tend to incriminate me.” That’s quite a slide.

“Drag her in front of the panel, and the cameras, *anyway*. Make it a campaign event! Carefully craft the questions so that every “I refuse to answer” becomes an Obamao administration mea culpa.
Crooked b!tch.”

Yup, haul her in front of Gowdy et al and make her take the 5th 100 times if you have to. Get her on the record. Make her sweat a lot, threaten her with jail time as a message to her colleagues! Stop being so nice to these people. Screw Ingram and his disgusting ilk! Kick their asses!
