I just got a message from my Daughter in N.E. Oklahoma. They haven’t had anything bad today but today is not over.

There are geographic features which channel major storms through the Norman/Moore area, across the southeast side of Oklahoma City, and then northeast straight up the turnpike to Tulsa.

Seven years in Oklahoma ... we spent many nights with the kids huddled in the laundry room while parents took turns watching the radar.

How long before we see the staged photos set-up by Obama showing him hugging a ‘tornado victim’? He will do anything to get the heat off of him.

Many in the know believe that the White House pushed the IRS story to the front pages in order to push Benghazi into being a non-story.

<I cant recall many times when children have been in hurt in schools by a tornado

My son attended kindergarten in Norman. They had tornado drills, even back 30 years ago.

When we moved out of the area, the first time my son heard the civil defense siren he was outside and ran into the house (with his bicycle), afraid a tornado was coming. They must really instill the importance of taking shelter ‘cause he was totally freaked out.

There is a shelter at the school, and the kids are trained to go there immediately when there is a Tornado Warning.

However, this one was so devastating, I wonder if even the shelter was safe.

I just got in touch with my cousin, who raced past the funnel cloud to get her just-born grandson into an underground shelter.

Keep praying!

Sadly - it depends on the tornado - and this was apparently a HUGE one. The pictures from the helicopter shows what appear to be 18+ inch wide steel support I-beams bent like pretzels - only a few heavy (likely reinforced) concrete walls standing.

I post this because when they widen up the camera angle you can see that the houses nearby are simply wiped slick to their foundadtions - so to be fair - the school was probably the strongest structure in the close vicinity...but if you can't get underground or away from a mile wide F4/F5...you are in trouble.

Prayers for all involved - especially the kids.

I read about the tri-state tornado (back in the 1920s I think)...there was a farmer who found a (heavy) barber chair in his field. He put it in his wagon and took it into town expecting to see that the barbershop had been destroyed...but it was still there with no damage.

He later found out that the barber chair came from a town right in the path of the tornado - 20 miles away.

Prayers.

“The good people of Oklohoma are almost uniformly Conservative and strong in their faith in God.”

And I will be shocked if I read a report of any looting.

I hope they are bringing in generators and all the lights they can get to that school - there is no way they are going to finish this effort before dark.
