Schieffer to Obama Advisor: ‘Why Are You Here? Why Isn’t the White House Chief of Staff here?'
News Busters - CBS ^ | May 19, 2013 | Noel Sheppard

See the video of the exchange via the link

DAN PFEIFFER, SENIOR WHITE HOUSE ADVISOR: The point that our Chief of Staff is making is that this is the Republican playbook here which is try, when they don't have a positive agenda, try to drag Washington into a swamp of partisan fishing expeditions, trumped up hearings and false allegations. We're not going to let that distract us and the President from actually doing the people's work and fighting for the middle class.

BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST: You know, I don’t want to compare this in any way to Watergate. I do not think this is Watergate by any stretch. But you weren't born then I would guess, but I have to tell you that is exactly the approach that the Nixon administration took. They said, “These are all second-rate things. We don't have time for this. We have to devote our time to the people's business.” You’re taking exactly the same line they did.

After Pfeiffer continued with evasive talking points, Schieffer again scolded:

SCHIEFFER: But Mr. Pfeiffer, and I don't mean to be argumentative here, but the President is in charge of the executive branch of the government. It’s my, I'll just make this as an assertion: when the executive branch does things right, there doesn't seem to be any hesitancy of the White House to take credit for that. When Osama bin Laden was killed, the President didn't waste any time getting out there and telling people about it.

But with all of these things, when these things happen, you seem to send out officials many times who don't even seem to know what has happened. And I use as an example of that Susan Rice who had no connection whatsoever to the events that took place in Benghazi, and yet she was sent out, appeared on this broadcast, and other Sunday broadcasts, five days after it happens, and I'm not here to get in an argument with you about who changed which word in the talking points and all that. The bottom line is what she told the American people that day bore no resemblance to what had happened on the ground in an incident where four Americans were killed.

And where is that hack, Victoria Nuland, the State Department Spokeswoman?
She has gone into hiding. Drag her lard ass to the hill and put her under oath.

Bob Scheiffer is starting to sound like a journalist.

Noel Sheppard is one of the best new/old style-journalists around.

Newsbusters has, some great voices, Its is one of my all-time favorite sites.

Being a journalist was once a respected profession, before it became corrupted. Maybe Mr. Scheiffer is remembering why he entered the profession in the first place. Or maybe not.

" Maybe Mr. Scheiffer is remembering why he entered the profession in the first place. Or maybe not."

He does sort of give one that idea....we can hope. It does seem more and more like the MSM overall is shifting in it's attitude.

I would just disagree on one point: This isn’t Watergate; it’s worse. No one died in Watergate.

Is Obama’s IRS rapidly becoming a SELECTIVE Domestic Terrorist Organization against the Middle Class?

When Benghazi first broke, Nuland’s body language gave away that she was lying. She stammered, nervously drank water, and she sweated more than Richard Nixon during the Kennedy debate. I’m no expert, but if I were an actual reporter I would have smelled a rat after listening to her BS.

Here’s the real issue: The administration has pushed its boundaries so far without srutiny, it’s damn near too big to stop them now....even if the press wanted to stop them....and at some point they might want to. I’m convinced that we could catch Obama Red handed giving orders to the IRS to pick on the conservatives and the people would still just yawn because they have been trained up by the media to disregard any criticism of Obama.

In short, Obama has gotta free ride for the next three years and he knows it. Heck, not only will the IRS not stop its treatment of conservatives, it will likely get worse. Who’s gonna stop him? Fans of American Idol and the NY Times? Give me a break.....

It is interesting, if only to speculate, (in lesser words, offered by Sir, Winston Churchill.

That our lives and actions resonate beyond our temporal concerns, that we, owe to each other; the truths which resolve our actions, taking causes that end tyranny and become willing to fight for our liberty and the fidelity of truth, as required by God.

Forgive the stilted language, but you hit a cord.

I’ll be damned, if I will fail this test. And from what I’ve read of your profile;

(We) will ultimately prevail.

CNN’s recent poll has 62% of Democrats saying the IRS stuff is wrong. That is amazingly high. We only had this IRS scandal come out a week ago Friday. There may be a point where the media follows the people, if for no other reason than to protect the Demonrat Party.

I hate this part, where I go to bed, then get up to correct my own post!

Should read: In lesser words, derived from...

Forgive the stilted language, but you hit a cord.

Should read: chord.

GOODNIGHT!

I, for one, am sick of Watergate being considered by the press as the absolute worst thing that has ever happened concerning a president.

I was in my mid-later 20’s during the Watergate mess. Nixon lied about a burglary which he learned about after the fact. That burglary was purportedly about stealing Democratic Party strategy information. However, G. Gordon Liddy believes that John Dean was just trying to get a “little black book” which implicated his girlfriend in a call girl scheme.

Nixon lied and tried to cover up. This was wrong.

Nixon did not have sex with an intern in the oval office.
Nixon did not have his Deputy White House Counsel commit suicide/be murdered and the body dumped in Ft Marcy Park
Nixon did not give a “Stand down” order to missions(s) to rescue an ambassador & staff under attack and who were later murdered.
Nixon did not fire flag officers who tried to rescue said ambassador.

Did I miss something?

My take is that the frenzy after the Watergate break-in was payback for Nixon’s earlier anti-communist work.

I just found this assessment: http://lewrockwell.com/burris/burris25.1.html

Comments on its validity?
