As a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association with an A+ rating for her voting record in the Tennessee House of Representatives, Debra Maggart never imagined that her political career would end this way.
Maggart, who chaired the Republican caucus, killed an NRA-backed bill that would have permitted Tennesseans to keep firearms in their parked vehicles wherever they went work, school or the neighborhood bar.
Months later, Maggart was stunned to see NRA-sponsored ads on billboards in her district. Her face was next to a picture of President Obama. The ads proclaimed: Sure, Rep. Debra Maggart Says She Supports Your Gun Rights. Of Course, He Says the Same Thing.

The friend of my enemy is my enemy.
T-Bird45 ~:” Did she think her NRA membership card implied some sort of electoral insurance against accountability? “
In a word -.. YES !
That is why we all need to be vigilant !
see if you can find the real story.
If you mess with the bull, you get the horns.
NRA’s power is no different than the soul-stealing, thieving ways of AARP, any fricking union at all, or ANY one of George Soros-supported PACs, ‘movement’s, et al. Nor is it any worse than Planned Parenthood lobbying and sympatico, Google’s meddiling, Facebook’s meddling or any other rich-ass liberal’s playtoy.
Screw her, screw them. At least WE have a giant, too.
“Margaret...killed an NRA-backed bill that would have permitted Tennesseans to keep firearms in their parked vehicles...”
I’m thinking... duh... she should NOT have killed the bill.
screw the NRA
so you gladly take the word of the Washington Post?
Maggart, you are so fortunate folks like me are not in charge and you were only stunned. You should be in prison doing at least 10 years of HARD labor for the decision you made to try and disarm law-abiding citizens. I don't want to hear another word out of your mouth, ever.
And, you would be next in line for attitude adjustment.
But my question is, will the Democrat running against her be better? Of course not.
The NRA needs to rethink some support....for HARRY REID......
Not at all what I said. You took a “them” in the final words of an explanation to take it to mean I don’t support the NRA’s right to act. Barring that understandable interpretation, just exactly who do you think when I said “....we have a giant too...?”
If you accept the banner of the NRA, you have to accept their policies or you will be held accountable. I wish the Catholic Church would do the same.
Looks like she belongs in the Rogues Gallery along with backstabbing “Traitor Joe” Manchin.
“Screw her, screw them. At least WE have a giant, too.”
Yeah, and we should use this tactic on every last one of them who profess to be “one of us,” and then do the opposite of what they told us! This has always been our problem: “those who draw near to us with their lips, but their hearts are far from us.” Our real problem has always been what passes for a Republican!
sorry I was paraphrasing the poster I was answering...I should have put it in quotation
Life can be crappy when you vote the wrong way.
sorry I though you were saying Screw the NRA I was answering...I should have put it in quotation
I and my three boys are all life members.
“I wish the Catholic Church would do the same.”
No kidding! And how about the Mormons backing Harry Reid and those worthless turds, the Udall bros., or Jeff “the Flake?” Mormons should be backing the likes of Jason Chafetz and Mike Lee, or that stellar young Black woman, Mia Long. All the churches are just in the “god business” for control of your lives and your money. I sure as hell don’t need them to be a good person, life is too short to buy what they are all selling.
I suggest you have the AM pull the post, or you'll be answering for it all day.
