You are so right. I work for the G. and this is actually a complex question.
1. Few people (ESPECIALLY gov. filth) can be trusted to telework.
2. I CAN be trusted. I don’t like work hanging over my head, and when I telework, that FOUR AND A HALF HOURS EACH DAY that I am not commuting to work. Instead I get a LOT done, by using some of that 4.5 hours to catch up and even get ahead.
3. And I’m not even being facetious here... It might be a BAD thing that I get more done. My job, like 99% of all G. jobs, wastes money and contributes to the death of the country. Wouldn’t it be better for everybody to pay me to do nothing? That way, only my salay is wasted, as opposed to the salary, plus the damage I do the country by working.

Yep! I managed 5 people, 4 of whom I could trust and one who played Internet casino games right outside my office. Had to get rid him.

As for the commute, that is so true and it even goes further when you can trust someone. I would work from home too, usually rising between 4-5 AM and not stopping until 6 PM with about 20 minutes off for lunch. My commute wasn’t as long as yours but as soon as I could brew my coffee and roll my cigarette, I was ready for work.

Why not just switch to a private-sector job when the economy recovers?

Oh, wait. That’s not gonna happen. Never mind . . .
