Since you’re new here, probably no one will believe you.

YOU don’t understand the basic concept of insurance.

Please...I used to sell it.

Your post is a perfect example of "talking points" used by the health care industry. You apparently have given no consideration to this issue at all.

Car insurance is probably the "most" similar. Insurance companies have preferred providers that fix vehicles after an accident has occurred. Imagine if those providers were suddenly forced by the Government to fix the cars of every uninsured motorist who showed up at the door who demonstrated an "emergency" situation where they need the vehicle to get to work...when 100% of them do not pay.

Of course, the shop would go out of business. Unless, of course, they had some bizarre incestuous relationship with the insurance companies, whereby they could pass along these losses to completely unrelated paying policy holders.

Then, suddenly...everything becomes an "emergency"...from a cracked windshield, to a dented bumper. Once they have gotten away with that, they might start to do ridiculous things like replace engines & transmissions on a charity basis...why the hell not...just bill the insurance companies (and their paying policy holders) twenty times as much when one of the insured clients shows up at the door to make up for it.

And of course, after about 20 years of this, the insurance companies would decide to "only" cover repairs at certain shops (those who provide the biggest kickbacks)...all of the honest and decent players would go out of business or be forced into a network...and you would be paying $1,000 per month for your insurance to cover a full rotisserie resto on some scumbag's 1976 Monte Carlo.

Of course, that does not happen, because the Government does not mandate that the vehicles of the uninsured are repaired any time that they show up at a repair shop. They are SOL; the vehicle is scrapped; and they walk to work.

Hope this helps clear the issue up for you.
