The marathon bombers talked about poisoning the water supply. These people may have connections to them, or be in the same cell.

It would probably take many heavy trucks loaded with dangerous substances to even be detectable in water. The most dangerous place is probably the water purification plant; but it can be secured - if anyone can be bothered.

Chemical engineering is essential in the oil industry. That said, these folks, at the very least, wanted to worry us and cost us time and money. We live in a world of profound hatred and we are the prime target of Islam.

Howie Carr, local radio host, reminded me/us of how cold it was last night, frost warnings and all, not exactly ideal weather for young folks on a midnight stroll...

Actually there is an easier place that wouldn’t take as much effort to cause a lot of damage, but I will not mention it here, or anywhere else for that matter. But you are right it would take hundreds of tons to do anything to the water supply.

thirty years ago I stopped my car by a Boston resavior and walked out towards it with my scketch pad, ignoring all the no trespassing signs.

Within 10 minutes there was a helicoptor hovering over me and two water district policemen encouraging me to leave.

I imagine it is much more policed these days.

this PM I spoke with a cop at my nearby reservoir, he said that the biggest threat was probably from biologicals, versus chemicals or radioactives... he also expressed some frustration with higher ups who were reluctant to train to respond to such threats at the most vulnerable point, the filtration fields, they were concerned with how it would look to the public who recreate nearby...

thirty years ago I stopped at the Quabbin Reservoir and relaxed with a friend on the banks for an hour. We left. No one ever took notice.
