@SodaStreamUSA response to Limbaugh boycott: “We continue to advertise”
5-15-2013 | William A. Jacobson

SodaStream is an Israeli company which makes a really cool and really popular product, essentially a make your own soda at home device. I plan on getting one. Its U.S. division is SodaStreamUSA.

This video shows the SodaStream story of building bridges between Jews and Arabs:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zl85AL1l0H0

Nonetheless, SodaStream has been the subject of a vicious boycott by the anti-Israel BDS movement, that grouping of Islamist, anti-Israel leftists and academics and other fringe players like Code Pink, which seeks to delegitimize Israel. The latest iteration, as you know, was the pressure campaign which succeeded in convincing Stephen Hawking to boycott an Israeli conference.

SodaStream is not alone as a BDS target. We previously have written about Sabra hummus and Aroma Café (and we urged a “BUYcott”).

Ironically, this commercial was banned by CBS during the SuperBowl not because of the BDS movement (which did try to get SodaStream banned) but because it upset certain other advertisers:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isjuA1fI-es

Because SodaStream recently began advertising on the Rush Limbaugh show, SodaStream now also is subjected to the secondary boycott run by Media Matters and that assemblage of real and fictitious activists using the banner of “Stop Rush” and “Flush Rush” who seek to win the argument by depriving Limbaugh and other conservatives of platforms.

We wrote about this phenomenon recently, Why is Daily Kos so afraid of some speech competition from the Koch Brothers?

BDS and Stop Rush are joined at the hip, as this Daily Kos post calling for a joint boycott of SodaStream shows:

Daily Kos - SodaStream Palestinian Misery

The usual tactics are being used against SodaStream, tweets from the assemblage of real and fake Twitter and Facebook accounts to make it seem to SodaStream that there is a mass movement behind the boycott, when in fact it is just the usual Media Matters astroturfed Potemkin social media village.

I reached out to SodaStreamUSA to ask its position on the boycott, and whether it would stop advertising.

The response was direct and pretty clear:

“We continue to advertise”

Let’s hope SodaStreamUSA stands strong. The same people who hate SodaStreamUSA for advertising on the No. 1 Talk Radio Show already hate it for being Israeli.

You can’t appease haters.

Some people will never stop hating.
Hatred is how they were taught as children to honor their families.
They will die hating with a smile on their face.

I hope that Daniel Birnbaum isn't killed by one of his employees.

And if he is, I hope it is done quickly so that he doesn't suffer.

Look at this BS:

http://electronicintifada.net/content/sodastream-treats-us-slaves-says-palestinian-factory-worker/12441
Anonymous people who claim they work at this plant are appearing in pro-Palestinian media and swear they are treated like slaves.
Of course, the usual suspects are rallying around these "poor and oppressed Palestinians."

Dani Birnbaum is a B School classmate of mine, and a friend. He has a great vision for what he wants to do in his role as the CEO of this company, it is truly greater than his vision of himself (which is all to rare these days). He also has a background as an officer in the Israeli military. I think he is well aware of what the Haters will try to do, and he doesn’t give a rip because he knows he is, in the grand scheme of things, on the right side of the argument. And I am sure he has planned for possible contingencies.

Great product too! We’ve been in on it since he offered us all the chance to beta test the product.

What you said. My wife bought one primarily for the grandkids, but I have found my primary use for it is instant Club Soda on demand. Love it.

I love my Soda Stream. You can use it for your own concoctions, also, like chocolate soda, egg cream, etc. The diet soda concentrates are made with splenda, which tastes so much better than store bought diet sodas made with nutrasweet.

I didn’t like the taste of the sodas and the carbonation is horrible. If we didn’t drink it all at one sitting it turned flat and wound up being thrown out. The ‘savings’ just weren’t worth it to us.
Just my personal opinion. I am sure there are thousands (millions?) that disagree with me. (disclaimer). Lol before everyone jumps on me.

I LOVE my soda stream, but I don't use any of their mixers.

I carbonate the water and top of the bottle with 100% fruit juice. The thick stuff, like Naked brand, which is like a puree.

It's great.

Maybe it was a Freudian slip. Right now my 31 year old, narcissistic kid does suck. The grand kids - NOT. Lol

I’ve been looking for such a device. After living in Europe for 20 years, getting used to drinking bubbly water, and with it drying up in every store we found it in stateside, we shall just use our own filtered water and purchase a SodaStream. As for Aroma Cafe....GREAT PLACE! If you get to Israel, especially Jerusalem, there are several! Great coffee, great meals, great experience! And, if you’ve not had hummus, YUMMMMMMMY! Of course, there are a lot of varieties, and having lived in Turkey for 6 years, I make my own, but hummus is wonderful!
