corksuckers are not profitable. With aids... they have a short shelf life.

I turned the show off. I may have exaggerated. She would probably be viewed as a preschooler and she was and is pretty smart.

My kids are much older now, but once I got out of the habit of watching network TV I found that little of what they show is is worth the time to watch.

I’m in the same boat — I didn’t even realize that network TV was putting gay-themed shows on this year. So they came and went without me even noticing.

***Network TV shows exist to deliver eyeballs to commercials,****

WE HAVE A WINNAH!

Years ago I read an article on why some shows were being cancelled. The article went into poor scripts, plots, bad actors, subject matter, and on and on.

Finally at the last they said that the real jury on whether a show was renewed was.....the families with the Neilsen Ratings boxes in their houses.

As long as they keep Modern Family, I don’t care.

Fans of same-sex television shows should not despair, Glee is gay enough to make up for the loss of all the other shows combined, and then some...

Perhaps targeting the demographic with such a large portion of your programming that is 2-3% of the population is not such good idea profitwise? Did they really think that they had stumbled into a gold mine? Down a rabbit hole, maybe.

I disposed of my TV in ‘88. got TV completely out of my system over the next 3 months or so, and have never been back. Two of my four kids have eschewed the box and one of the other two is an entertainer.

The Simpsons have not been funny since season 9.

They were doing what Hollywood and the Networks do well which is projecting their biases rather than serving their customers. If people wanted gay centric programming then LOGO would be huge. Its not for a reason.

There is something strange about people who don’t watch TV ... I feel sorry for those of you non TV people ... You don’t know what you are missing ... You non TV people must be a bunch of old Fuddy Duddies ...

The programming and conditioning you passively subject yourself to has turned you in to a drooling thrall. Just as a test, why don't you see how uncomfortable you get if the TV isn't on for 24 straight hours. See if you can actually do it.

I can agree with you there. Though this past season was unprecedented in the number gaycentric shows which was more of an example of blatant activism. I dropped the cable tv portion of my comcast bill last month(not because of that). Things may be bad now in some respects related to TV but I think things will get better. The reason being that media is shifting towards a more individualize customer centric model. It will allow some things we don’t like to thrive in their little pockets but we will be able to control even more so what we pay for and what we allow through our media devices.

>>I’ve often said if an alien came to earth and watched US primetime tv, he’d infer that the populace was 30% black, 30% Hispanic, and 30% gay.<<

And that kids are much much smarter than their parents and other adults — but in general they would conclude all humans are freaking idiots.

The last question they would ask themselves before calling in the Vogons would be “how do humans afford really great apartments and houses when they have minimum wage or blue collar jobs?”

Then they would shug all 3 of their shoulders and BOOM...

I loved Southland, until John Cooper, my favorite character, turns out to be gay.

Same here. Really liked that show and Cooper.

I really want to watch TV. There was a time a few years back when there was a show I wanted to watch on 4 separate nights. I would go home, eat and sit back and really enjoy watching something.

Last year there was one show, this year zilch. I really miss it, I’ve even tried to find something but no luck. I’ve resorted to doing the dishes out of shear boredom.
