I agree, am so disgusted with the direction and quality the forum has taken. Way back when, it was actually a force to be reckoned with and accomplished alot of good.
Angelina Jolie is certifiable. This is like a guy getting his penis cut off to prevent something. The imagery is stomach churning. Genetics do not determine everything here. If a woman has such a history of family breast cancer and is very worried then eat a super clean diet and get closer to God. Take you chances with this rather than getting body parts sliced off.
It is only morning and this is sickening.
In her mind she is doing this for her children that she wants to be there for. But this still is revolting.

However, everyone who’s read this thread will now be tuned into the BRCA gene testing should breast or ovarian cancer come up in their lives or the life of someone they know. Call that what you will. I have suggested that Jim set up a separate forum for tabloid type news. Let folks post celebrity, sports, naughty teacher, Michelle's big butt, etc...stories there. That would give us who have absolutely no interest to not see the fluff; yet those who are interested can still have their fun.
She made a brave choice in having the surgery. Every time she sees her scars, she can know she chose a course that will probably prolong her life.
She is doing a service in bringing it out to the public. How many women will see this and know they can make this decision if their circumstances are similar?
C’mon people. Even if she weren’t a libertarian, and even if her dad wasn’t a conservative, must we delight in this just because she is in Hollywood? We are better than them. Some of these posts are shameful.

It’s that just because she is Hollywood there should be no thought what so ever to the choice that every day women and their families..INCLUDING SOME HERE...have to face...same as the one Jolie just faced head on.
But because she is a liberal or because she is Hollywood that decision is not important and must not be discussed.

I actually applaud her coming forward. She is considered one of the most beautiful women in the world. I know other women who carry. The gene who have witnessed the women in their families struggle with cancer.
EVERYONE dies. The important question is.... where will you spend eternity?
Born once, die twice. Born twice die once.
Everyone has a physical birth and death. Those who know Jesus, also have a spiritual birth (born twice, born again). Those that don't know Him, also have a spiritual death (die twice).
Existence is eternal. We all spend eternity somewhere. With the saving grace of Jesus Christ you will spend eternity with Him in heaven. Without the saving grace of Jesus Christ you will spend eternity in hell, separated from God.
There is no in between. There is no just “nothingness”. Eternal bliss or eternal torment, you get to choose.
How can I do this? It is simple. You don't need to know how it works. You don't need to “clean up” first. Come as you are! It is not praying the exact or correct words. It has to be from your heart. You have to mean it. You can't fool an all knowing God.
These are some things your prayer (speaking to God), wherever you may be, should include....
Admit that you are a sinner.
Ask for forgiveness of your sins.
Admit that you believe Jesus died on the cross and was raised from the dead to cover the sins of the world.
Ask Jesus to be your Lord and savior.
Accept His free gift of saving grace.
DONE! You are now a “child of God”. You should immediately seek out a Christian mentor to help you with your new-found faith. You should begin to read the bible cover to cover. The bible is THE WORD OF GOD. The particular version is not so important. Find a “bible believing” church (VERY important). You will need the fellowship of other believers to answer questions and help you as needed.
You will notice that “THINGS HAVE CHANGED”. You are “Born Again” or “reborn”.
In the Christian song, Painting Pictures Of Egypt, by Sara Groves, which is about the conflict of feelings, by a new Christian, this lyric hits it.

I bet to her, it is about cancer
