Republicans seek blame on Benghazi rather than solutions
Washington Post ^ | May 12, 2013 | Jackson Diehl

Remember the scandal of “the 16 words”? If you do, you’ve probably been inside the Beltway too long, literally or figuratively.

Most of what Wilson said was later proved to be grossly exaggerated, or simply false. But that didn’t stop Democrats and partisan media from devoting years to conspiracy-spinning and attempts to pin political and criminal responsibility on Bush, Vice President Dick Cheney or Karl Rove.

A decade later, we have the right’s answer to Joe Wilson: Benghazi.

The common thread here is not just the climate of intense partisanship in which media and politicians from the left dismiss what the right insists is a scandal of historic proportions — or vice-versa. It is the diversion of what should be serious, bipartisan discussion about government failings.

To be fair, the House Republican investigation of Benghazi also addresses the more substantive issues of the State Department’s failure to adequately secure its Benghazi facilities and Obama’s lack of “a credible national security posture in the region.”

Displaying breathtaking verbal gymnastics, WaPo editor Deihl spins to create an analogy of political misdirection of public attention between what Democrats did to push the false Wilson/Plame claims to what the GOP is doing to push Benghazi claims. Except that the Democrats were pushing false claims about Bush's true 16 words while the GOP is pushing TRUE claims about the false words used by the Obama Administration to cover-up the true nature of the 9/11 anniversary al-Qaeda-linked attack. Yes, both efforts divert attention from larger foreign policy issues, but no mention of Scooter Libby as "collateral damage" resulting from pointless Plamegate political prosecution.

After all this time what difference can it possibly make?

Interesting. In this case, finding where to assess blame will also correct the situation when appropriate Constitutional remedies are applied.

How telling that the ComPost believes they are mutually exclusive.

Maybe the WaPo can remind us how many people died during Watergate.

We ALL know the solution. But how do we accomplish it when the rats are so experienced at stealing elections?

Clinton, (Bill), laid the ground work for this type of thing. Misdirection, conflicting, confusing accounts, serve to confuse and exhaust the public’s attention.

It works.

Solutions?

Obama was re-elected on a completely false pretense, that he won the WOT and it was over..remaining Muslims loved us..the rest dead or locked up... and Libya welcomed us as liberators.

There is NO solution to that BUT blame.

Did WashPost worry about blaming exactly eight years ago in 2005?
(rhetorical question.)

"Republicans seek blame on Benghazi rather than solutions"

Well Jack, the solution is to remove the people that caused the problem. See how nicely blame works?

There can be no solution without finding out what happened and who caused it.

What solutions are available to republicans so long as the Obama democrats control the state and defense departments? All republicans can do is point out the crimes and demand prosecution.

Hey, buddy boy Compost Cr*pper, before you can pass sentence, first you have to figure out who’s guilty.

The solution is to be developed from universal recognition of the problem.

The solution is to destroy the credibility of the DNC propaganda machine known as the Main Stream Media and to destroy the existing Regime and kick them out of power.

The MSM will be recognized as not only a major part of the problem but as American enemies with no present equal.

That's funny.

WaPo only seeks blame most of the time... when it's blaming the bitter bible/gun clingers.
