I think they just don’t care.....I truly, truly believe they figure that all of America’s problems stem from Bush being in charge. Obama is definitely on their side, (the Islamists), and feels since he is one of them nothing could happen. It truly kicked the ass off this precept when this massacre happened. They forgot to figure in one thing: WE were supplying the Syrian rebels with weapons from Libya. The RUSSIANS didn’t like this because ASSAD is the preferred leader of Syria for them for logistical reasons. Russian fingerprints and DNA everywhere. Stupid Hillary can’t say so.

“Col Cartwright USMC on ABC just said that it would have taken until the next day to send any military aircraft over Benghazi — atleast 9 hours to fuel and load ordinances — so no rescue by air was possible.”

If in fact the Colonel is right, then the military is in much worse shape than I ever thought. Having served in the US Army and the USAF I can say that no way would it have ever taken us none hours just to get off the ground.

If this is the case then we really need to get our money back. We’ve been told rapid deployment is fully funded and can meet contingencies such as embassies under attack. At Appropriations Committee time, I hope someone brings this up. Ask the SecDef why they’ve been lying about this capability.

I do that because I usually only reply to posts good enough to re-print in any case. I really hate talking to idiots and try never doing it.

Look....please don’t tell tales about that part of the world. I know it like the back of my hand. It just so happens that air force rapid response teams (Fighters & C-130s) are on standby 24/7...ready to go at a moments notice. Ditto for rapid deployment ground forces all over the south European area and north Africa locales. No one knew how long the attacks would continue, the aid and backup had to be sent!!! Whoever gave the “Standown Order”, I suspect it was Obama, should be tried for treason. No one will ever know who could have been saved, if any of our folks, because no military forces were dispatched to aid our guys!!! Murder at the hands of USA POTUS!!! The truth shall surface. My friend...you have been drinking too much of the Obamabot Kool-Aid!!!

The big problem with a call for a select committee is that the Demoviks have to sign off on it—and won’t ever. I think they’ll refuse to staff it, if it comes down to it.

Where do you come up with this stuff?

Select committees are temporarily formed for specific purposes, often to study a particular issue. They usually do not draft legislation. Some, like the select committees to investigate the assassinations of John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, are obviously intended to have limited lives. Others, like the Select Committee on Aging and the Select Committee on Indian Affairs, have existed for a number of years actually produce legislation. Sometimes long-standing select committees eventually become standing committees.

Only Speaker John Boehner can allow the formation of a House Select Committee. The Reps don't need Dem approval to form one.

The newest select committee is the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming. It was established during the 110th Congress and renewed for the 111th Congress. The committee is advisory in nature, and lacks the legislative authority granted to standing committees. The Committee was disbanded by the House in 2011 following Republican victories at the 2010 mid-terms. Pelosi set this committee up chaired by Markey.

We need more info about Syria, et. al. Assad was very much hooked into the Dems at one time. Pelosi even wore the head scarf to please him. Not sure we really know what’s going on there. 600+ days ago Rodham said his regime was not long for this world. And yet...

If you’re gonna be accused of “playing politics” in any case, then PLAY POLITICS.

So here I sit mentally composing what the Republicans have to do and boom, in one sentence you punch it out.

Republicans continuing to play by a different set of rules has brought us to the precipice. No sane person sits down to a game and one side gets more pieces than the other and so on regarding rules. Unless, of course, they agree to different rules ahead of time. In either case, no one chooses a different set of rules for no reason.

The Dems go for the throat, use the emotions, and it seems to work. It sure would be nice if Americans were the proud folks they once were who would demand fairness and some set of principles.

We've go to play by THEIR rules. Now what would the Dems do if they had a Benghazi in their hands?

Man, they'd be out there with sound bytes of sobbing Mothers and Fathers on their days, begging Hillary and the President to please tell them why they didn't send help for their sons that they too could enjoy the parental holiday as Hillary does with Chelsea.

They'd milk it for everything and it works. The pubs are going to have to play by the same rules. Hire somebody to write the scripts for God's sake and stay away from those milk toast consultants.

If the opposition doesn't start playing by THEIR rules, they must accept loss from here on in.

Am I missing something here????

Col Cartwright USMC on ABC just said that it would have taken until the next day to send any military aircraft over Benghazi — atleast 9 hours to fuel and load ordinances — so no rescue by air was possible.

I would think even the sound of a jet fighter traveling at mach speed at lower altitude would have an effect on the crowd. After all they don’t know what’s behind the first one.

Do continuous loops until the other help arrives. At least that’s an effort.

Right. But the Dems can easily “de-legitimize” it by not showing up and saying later all the findings were “political.” Much like the Wisconsin strategy.

Plus, if the entire debate is pared down to formation of a committee then the substance of Benghzi is lost on people. It becomes a “process” debate blah blah blah.

Plus. I don’t trust Boehner.

And you send troops into harms way regardless when it comes to a rescue mission like this one. Doherty and his team went in without knowing the situation on the ground.

Amen. It’s been that way since the first military force was formed, and even that way with banded people fighting for a cause or protecting their own.

I was scrolling casually around and came upon your post.

I am so glad you said it.

Cause I’m thinking, this is the U.S. military...if they knew Americans were in danger....THEY’D FIND A WAY!

To even whisper an assumption that it might not have mattered is not a good idea. Again, our side wants fair and decent. Let the left go on about how it wouldn’t have helped. Our side should keep the even keel by insisting there were ways to assist that never had a chance but for the stand down order.

Lets not forget we are a member of NATO, and while I find it hard to believe there was absolutely nothing we could do what about our allies? Are the rats claiming all of NATO (including the USA) could do nothing?

Gates who was SoD under Bush and Obama said he would not send fighter aircraft either since lots of anti-air weapons are present. Didn't we send aircraft before? When those weapons were in the hands of the people we were fighting? But now there presents denies us air cover? How effective is a shoulder fired missile against an F16?

The ten percent of the electorate at stake is pretty much ONLY swayed by emotion. Low information rabble. It has to fit the reality TV model otherwise they lose interest.

One overlooked point about todays military.

Many of them are true volunteers, not drafted.

They , in my opinion, would cover each others back.

I was drafted during Vietnam, and know that some who served were bitter,
and only cared about themselves , not the greater purpose of protecting each other.

He is not a Col. It sounds like he may know a little something about the military and our capabilities. Just saying--

James E. "Hoss" Cartwright (born September 22, 1949) is a retired United States Marine Corps four-star general who last served as the eighth Vice Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from August 31, 2007 to August 3, 2011. He previously served as the Commander, U.S. Strategic Command, from September 1, 2004 to August 10, 2007, and as Acting Commander, U.S. Strategic Command from July 9, 2004 to September 1, 2004. He retired from the Marine Corps on August 3, 2011 after nearly 40 years of service.

I heard that this morning and could not believe my ears. Again. All the money he has bled from the federal budget in his time for the military and NOW he tells us we can’t fly an F-16 through LIBYAN anti-air????

Where did the money go?
