It is my suspicion that Dempsey and Panetta were dis inclined to involve the military is because Benghazi was a CIA operation.

You don’t put people in that situation period. If the host government cannot protect you, then you shouldn’t be there, a contingency plan not withstanding.

They have the entire north of Africa from Mali to Egypt

Am I missing something here????

Col Cartwright USMC on ABC just said that it would have taken until the next day to send any military aircraft over Benghazi — atleast 9 hours to fuel and load ordinances — so no rescue by air was possible.

It is not Dempsey’s or Panetta’s call. Most of the people there were CIA, but there were 8 State employees and no doubt some DOD folks.

Speaking of liars and political hacks in the top levels of the military, I expect Colin Powell to come out of the closet any day now. Any man who has kissed that much ass just has to be gay.

“Barack Buttstain Obama”

Any Intel guy would read the name and say “Hmmm... , I suspect this guy has Muslim allegiances”

FOX NEWS SUNDAY (Fox Network)

If you haven’t seen it yet, try to catch the Fox panel in the second half of the program when it re-airs this afternoon. Of all people, Dennis Kucinich just killed it on Benghazi and the IRS scandal. I’m not kidding. Wallace’s jaw practically dropped, and Krystal said what I was thinking: “I’m still trying get over the fact that I agreed with every word Dennis said today.”

General Cartwright may be right, but the question should be, "Were those assets set in motion as soon as the report of the attack came in?" No one knew how long this would take-- hours, days, or weeks. What decisions were made in hour one to send help?

I had some dealings with him in my time and that’s all I’m gonna say. Well, I would add that you could see what he was Way Back When if you just let yourself look.

What the Secretary of Defense and the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs recommend to the Commander in Chief is definitely their call.

I caught that too. I was wondering if he ran out of LSD, or maybe Benghazi caused him to snap.

Then his intelligent/sane personality emerged and sent his "Mayor of Crazy Town" personality into submission.

It’s pretty much true it was a CIA op but that’s irrelevant. Once the gunfire broke out and we have guys on rooftops lasering targets it’s military, end of story.

I want my money back.

Seriously, I have seen guys scrambled without any paper work within 30 mins to head to Libya or any damn place you wish.

They file the paperwork while you are on the way.

Back channels are lit up
Secondary plans are in effect.

We have deep coverage.
The notion that Obama could not for see this event is ludicrous.

The operative word is "recommend." The buck stops in the WH. And if SECDEF and JCS recommended doing nothing, then they should be fired.

I think I’d rather keep Issa (”Isa” means “Jesus” in Arabic) in charge of the committee, and not go for a select committee.

Everyone says we need a select committee in order to obtain subpena power. I do not agree with that. I believe subpena may be issued by a regular committee. If they are not complied with then you go to the full House for a vote (ala Fast & Furious - Holder in contempt), and then you do to court (why is THAT dragging?)

Anyway, Issa is doing well. I hope he keeps his pets inside.

Someone should start the drumbeat for a special prosecutor, independent counsel (whatever you wanna call it).

This is exactly right, just what I’ve been saying, and “If, Mr. General, sir, with all due deference, you can’t scramble from Aviano to save American lives in Libya, then, um, I forget, why are we spending billions on an airbase there?”

I want my money back.
