CBS News ^ | 05/0/13

Posted on 05/11/2013 9:59:26 AM PDT by AtlasStalled

The House of Cupcakes recently revealed its Mayor Bloomberg cupcake — a gut-busting confection with a frowning Bloomberg on top. * * * Although in good fun, the health-conscious Hizzoner wasn’t too pleased. ”This is one of the dumbest things people have done, but if they can get some publicity,” Bloomberg said.

Free people have the freedom to do dumb things, Mayor. You do them daily.

Anytime anyone does anything that requires freedom or independent thought, Little Michael Bonaparte is sad. In a corollary to that, any time Little Michael Bonaparte is sad, free people are happy.

“What an uptight fellow.”

Isn’t he? I think it was Mae West who once said that life is a banquet, and most people are starving . . . Nanny Bloomberg no doubt would have been the pooper at her party!

Only Bloomberg could give me the opportunity to honestly promote Detroit as a better city based on freedom alone. In Detroit you can eat or drink what you want, you can smoke, and most important, you can carry a weapon openly and defend yourself with it.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

-CS Lewis

Detroit is run by robber barons and I'd take my chances with them over Nanny Bloomberg any day of the week.

Someday His Homosexual Majesty will get to execute people for ridiculing him, but for now he will have to settle for pouting.

There’s such a thing as godly moderation, but that isn’t brought about by banning things. That 36,000 calorie cupcake could be cut into many pieces and shared and it would be wonderful. The Lord wants self control, but He isn’t asking humanity to be joyless fuddy duddies.

“Its got over 12 pounds of sugar, five pounds of butter, four pounds of flour, six cups of cocoa powder, 24 eggs, two cups of milk,” owner and cupcake creator Ron Bzdewk told WCBS.

You kind of have a point. Not even self-destructive, greedy Detroit liberals have gone off on the sort of goofy jag that Bloomy has.

In Detroit, the city government doesn’t really care what the people do. In fact a friend who lives there tells me that there is a considerable underground economy in Detroit.

He says you can get just about anything you want on the street at a real bargain if you don’t ask too many questions.
