Colonel Tim Collins has acknowledged the possibility that a teenage soldier who allegedly committed suicide may have been a victim of a "homosexual predator" at a time when both men were under his command.
The commanding officer of the 1st Bn the Royal Irish Regiment, who was internationally praised for a rousing speech before the Iraq conflict, conceded in a confidential report that he "would not have them (homosexuals) in proximity of young soldiers again" following the death of Ranger Paul Cochrane.
The controversial circumstances of the 18-year-old soldier's death led to an Army board of inquiry report, chaired by three senior officers. The report has been seen by The Telegraph.
Col Collins, who is being investigated for allegations of mistreatment of Iraqi PoWs, told the inquiry that he was aware of homosexual assault allegations against a man within the regiment who he had transferred away from contact with young soldiers to storeroom duties.
The soldier, Richard Vance, was later jailed for two years for attempted buggery and two indecent assaults.
On the day Ranger Cochrane shot himself with his SA80 rifle at Drumadd Barracks, Co Armagh in July 2001, Col Collins said, Vance was also serving at the base.
Col Collins was aware of a predatory homosexual in his battalion but said he "could do very little about it" before the man went to court.
"Lads were being attacked on a number of occasions," he said, adding the man "had a history of homosexual assault". Vance was convicted of attempting to rape a drunken soldier on the night of Ranger Cochrane's funeral.

Male homosexuals and predator are inseperable parts of the same lifestyle.

Show a sharp uptick of same sex assaults since the repeal of don’t ask don’t tell. Its true that most sexual assaults are opposite sex but the incidence rate for homosexuals when you if you estimate the number in the military is anywhere from 3x to 8x that their heterosexual counterparts.

Sad story; but, I kind of like the way the Brits don't try to use words to hide the nature of the attack. They call it what everyone calls it.

Yeah. A friend of mine told me of an incident when he was in the military during the Vietnam era. He walked in on an incident where an officer was forcing himself on a private. The thing is this thing is covered up and of course the media isn’t interested. US Soldier Cody Openshaw a disabled vet suffered such abuse and killed himself.

Liberals/Homosexuals don’t like to discuss the ramifications of sexually deviant persons in positions of authority.
I think they should be shot on sight when found on a military installation.
Think about prisons: The first thing that comes to most people’s mind is jail rape. Meaning, prisons are full of homosexuals, meaning homosexuals are the typical criminal. Straight men don’t go to prison then think, “Gosh, if I only had a place to stick my penis into that guy over there.”
