SC 1st District Special Election (Live Thread)
me ^ | 7 May 2013 | me

Posted on 05/07/2013 11:54:51 AM PDT by vikingd00d

No live thread yet, so I'm starting one.

Voted at 2:30 p.m. in Mt Pleasant 19. No line. Poll worker reported 28.3% turnout so far in a precinct that had a 66% turnout in the last major election.

Results should be here after the polls close.

+1 for Sanford 'cause I don't want to be represented by Nazi Pelosi.

Even though I don’t care for Sanford (’cause I think he’s a looneytoon) I did predict his victory based on the simple principle that Democrats only vote for Presidents and they won’t show up in sufficient numbers to challenge Sanford.

Better to vote for a rat....any rat...than a RAT.

Colbert-Busch shot her self in the foot by believing she had the race in the bag and could take off her “moderate” disguise early. She came out in the debate as pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage and pro-gun control. That doesn't go over too well in a district that is hard red, and her numbers have been plummeting ever since.

I fervently hope you are right, but there have been reports of the Dhimmis being fired up on this one because the Pubbie is so weak. Sanford knows how to campaign and he’s got the Big Mo; but this may still be a nail biter.

If it’s only union folks showing up, she’ll be crushed!

I hope the “Big Mo” was not several days too late. I’ll be watching this on the Internet tonight. Hopefully (he says as he knocks on wood) I’ll be able to go to sleep early and get a good night’s sleep knowing Sanford’s won it.

Thank you for posting this “live’’ thread !!! This is a very important election. A big win here tonight by Terry Sanford, who is not the best candidate that the pubbies could offer, goes a long way beyond his personal troubles. A trashing of Colbert-Busch would be a major blow against Barack Hussein “Benghazi Traitor” Obama. Voters in SC-!, take heed, destroy Colbert-Busch at the polls today!!! As for Sanford, he can be removed in the upcoming 2014 primary, if the voters desire to do so!!!

And.....I might remind the voters in SC-! of the cheats in the Democrat Party that everyone knows....FDR, JFK, Ted Kennedy, Anthony Weimer, Robert Menendez, John Edwards, Bill Clinton, etc, etc. A vote for Colbert-Busch is a vote for Obama and Pelosi!!! Hold your noses and cast your ballot for Terry Sanford...and aid in destroying Obama and his traitor Democrat Party!!!

I hope that people vote for Mark Sanford, not Terry Sanford: Terry Sanford was a Democrat Governor and Senator from NC who died 15 years ago.

The media has been trashing Sanford here in SC since his affair story broke but never reported Democrat Elizabeth Colbert Busch’s past arrest and jail time. http://www.fitsnews.com/2013/05/04/so-heres-elizabeth-colbert-buschs-mug-shot/

I just hope we get this seat and make it harder for the socialist to pass their agenda.

Did Demint get out there for him?

You are right that Dems, have so many low info voters that they only come out to vote in the big election but lets hope you’re right on this

The Dems had 30 million more voters in the 2008 Presidential election than they did in the 2010 midterm election!

That gave us 30 state legislatures and control of the House of Representatives.

Only 26 million of them came back to vote in the 2010 Presidential election.

Republican voters also evade the midterms, but in 2010 they were down only 15 million compared to 2008.

The 2006 election was lost when Republicans stayed away. In a normal midterm recent history suggests the Democrats should have lost.

My theory behind the 2006 disaster is that the Democrats succeeded beyond their wildest dreams in making it look like the Republican leadership elite was overrun with homosexuals. Although Americans, in general, will vote for a Democrat homosexual, they hold Republicans to a higher standard and won't do it ~ and a good number of them will not vote for a known homosexual enabler.

Nope, sorry. And if you do hear about some early exit-poll data, my advice would be to disregard them and wait for them to start counting the votes.

Sorry, when you do what Sanford did, it's unfair to say someone else trashed him ~ the boy done trashed hissef' BIG TIME.

I'm still not convinced he's not a clown, but this woman running against him is a close second to being a clown.

All of which rather demonstrates that a week local Republican party will cough up pretty much anyone who can attract a couple of donors.

I was visiting the NC Governors Mansion with a group of foreign students and went out on the porch. Terry Sanford strolled up and said “ Mr Harris I’m glad you came today and enabled the foreign students to see America” or some such.

It impressed the hell out of me that he recognized me, much less knew my name. It was not till I got back and took off my name tag that I realized what happened. I always look at name tags and call people by name now

Low turnout could be bad or good. We’ll see.

I truly hope we retain this seat. One more that Piglosi needs to take over the House, meaning they’ll spend more resources in 2014.
