It was reported the other day on an inside page of the Pioneer Press, and without nearly enough fanfare, that more than six out of 10 women who give birth in their early 20s are unmarried. That is census data, from census demographers, from the very government that then becomes responsible for many, if not most, of those unmarried women and children.
If that isn't an astonishing statistic, it should be. Why, to any logical person's way of thinking, it explains everything in terms of government at all levels bloating out of control.
Supposing that even angels might fear to tread here, it being liberal dogma that I shouldn't be telling women what to do, or men, either, for that matter, I would submit that marriage would solve virtually every economic issue facing this country.

If we were able to see a pie chart of government spending I’m willing to be this item would be a very small slice of that chart. Government employee payroll and benefits, etc. would be a much larger piece. IMHO

The actual handouts to the “needy,” whether or not they are unmarried mothers, are only 1/5 (iirc) of the government spending “for” them. 4/5 goes to the functionaries and functions of the government.

Without ending the anchor baby fraud there is no true immigration reform.
Without ending the welfare for single mom’s there is no welfare reform.
A single illegal alien Mom needs to be deported along with her offspring. The UN can give the baby some ID document. That would put us in line with other countries.
Mitt Romney said that our social safety net was becoming a hammock. I’d say that it was becoming more of a giant daycare center for bastards.

I hate to say it, butr the only way out of this mess would be either a massive collapse and rebuilding, or another option which is scary as hell....
The scary as hell option would be this: We figure out rapid cloning of humans alongside the ability to program an entire human brain based off a “template” programming based off of conservative ideals and robust individualism philosophy. Then we race to outnumber them with these newly minted “undocumented pre-made patriots”. Like I said, it is the scary as hell option.
Most of society’s problems, from the bloated welfare state to urban crime to “anchor baby” illegal immigration, began once the government took it upon itself to reward people for having children that they can’t afford and can’t care for themselves. Once the poor started seeing children as sources of state income, what we have today became inevitable.

And those that do marry are having ever fewer kids.
You know, the kind of jobs that impoverished single mothers aspire to and that government is only to happy to provide with make-work measures.
