Congressional Democrat: WH's Benghazi Talking Points Were Garbage
Town Hall ^ | May 6, 2013 | Guy Benson

Carol had it right last week: Benghazi is back -- much to the chagrin of the White House, I'm sure. To set the table for Wednesday's hearings, here's what we've learned over the last few days:

(1) Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) was directly involved in the 9/11/12 raid that killed four Americans, including our Ambassador to Libya. Leaders in Washington knew the Benghazi massacre was a terrorist operation "almost immediately," and officials on the ground suspected as much "from the get-go." The administration misleadingly denied and downplayed the terrorist connection for weeks.

(2) A special ops officer with detailed knowledge of the US response to the attacks says Washington could have ordered a rescue/intervention mission to save American lives, but did not, for reasons that remain unclear.

(3) Lawyers for potential whistle-blowers within the government say their clients have been intimidated into silence by the administration. These attorneys also allege that the government has been uncooperative in granting them security clearances, which they say are necessary to facilitate adequate legal representation.

(4) Nearly eight months after the fact, and as political scrutiny is again ratcheting up, the FBI has finally released photos of several Benghazi suspects. No arrests have been made in connection to the deadly terrorist attack so far.

(5) Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's signature appeared on a memo denying requests for increased security assets in Benghazi. Amb. Chris Stevens and his predecessor in Tripoli both asked for enhanced protection due to the increasingly dangerous climate on the ground.

(6) The identities of three Benghazi whistle-blowers/witnesses who will testify this week have now been revealed.

I've always found the mendacious talking points to be the least significant element of his scandal, which is not to say it's unimportant. The administration clearly made a conscious decision to mislead the public on the nature of the intelligence and security fiasco in Benghazi. The president was, after all, caught up in the heat of a re-election campaign. But the false information disseminated after the fact strikes me as less outrageous than the inexplicable decisions to (a) withhold requested additional security resources and actually withdraw existing ones -- resulting in a woefully inadequate security presence in a very perilous location, and (b) take no action to save American lives during the eight-hour siege. Why were these courses of action adopted, and who's responsible? And where was the president? Perhaps some answers will be forthcoming the day after tomorrow on Capitol Hill.

Several of us Freepers were saying, back when Obama was re-elected, that at least it increased the odds that this would get a full venting. I guess every cloud has a silver lining.

And on that same subject, if he had lost, the left would be complaining about all the horrendous things happening (over these next four years) and how Obama could have saved us. It’s going to be all on his head now.

The bible says something about God allowing evil to reach full fruition before he cuts it down. It happened to hitler, et-al. Of course, it didn’t go well for those that put these folks in office.

And the only person in jail right now is a Coptic Christian who allegedly made a cheesy video that nobody saw.

Obama should be impeached. Susan Rice should be tried for treason and sent to prison for life and Hillary Clinton should be denied any public political or appointee position for life!!! LOL!!! I know that will never happen...but the blood of loyal, patriotic, public servants is dripping from their murdering hands!!! I am certain that the three of these disgusting human beings will burn in hell for eternity, along with the rest of their Democrat trator cohorts!!! Murderers of unportected Americans at the hands of Obama’s budddies!!!

Conspiracy theory: They were supposed to only “kidnap” the ambassador. We would have then traded the blind imam for him. But the attackers sort of screwed the pooch when they let him die.

Yeah, this gives you a feel for how little I respect our president and Hillary.

The talkingpoint blame-game for Sunday morning Newstalk programs was that the Republicans were to blame because they cut security funding. That was from Leahy on MTP and Lynch on FNS.

They were attempting to deflect. It has worked so effectively in the past — blaming others.

Is that excuse worn out yet? We may know very soon.

You called it correctly. They were all involved in covering up their inaction in the murder of 4 US citizens.

This one still mystifies me. Getting a TS clearance is not something that you can you do in a few days or even a few weeks. And there must be loads of lawyers floating around D.C. that already have high level clearances. Surely there are at least a few with the proper attitude. Choosing a lawyer who doesn't have one just makes no sense to me.

The ‘O’ ship has never been ‘ship shape’ or sea-worthy, its crew-NOT experienced sailors, its captain-cannot read maps and is no sailor himself... the sea has been stormy and it has sailed dangerously close to the rocks from the beginning.

Now... Benghazi could (should) be THE rock to finally shipwreck and sink the good ship “O”!

So let me get this straight....it wasn’t the video that Hillary/Biden/Obama said caused these attacks? That those photos were NOT people rushing our good ambassador to the hospital? I know Candy Crowley asserted in the presidential debate that Obama never said it was a video in the rose gardent....am I not to believe her too? (sarcasm)

The MSM walks a fine line. They want to support him, but if his administration is just over the top in incompetence and it looks like they will not be able to successfully supress the truth, they each have a hard decision to make. Do they cover for him and hope and pray that it doesn’t go all Watergate, in which case they go down with him? Or do they abandon ship and spill their guts, giving the appearance of being that hard hitting investigating organization that just wants to get to the truth?

It appears that this one may be finding enough MSM outlets that choose the latter. It will go from a trickle to a deluge of outlets. That is, if that is the way it goes down.

Maybe. But after the all out fabrications, corruption and incompetence of the Clinton administration... the MSM has way TOOOO long a walk back to credibility!

If they had the spine to resume any kind of integrity and professional stature, THAT would have been the opportune time.

I don't know if they can salvage any credibility NOW.

We now have the edited talking points and 3 whistle-blowers to contradict Hillary's testimony.

Hillary is directly responsible for the deaths and injuries at the consulate by denying security.

Obama should be impeached for Dereliction of Duty for not sending those under terrorist attack any kind of help whatsoever.

The SOB went to bed, not the slightest bit concerned.
