Single moms are making us broke
pioneer press ^ | 5-5-13 | joe soucheray

Posted on 05/05/2013 8:01:10 AM PDT by TurboZamboni

It was reported the other day on an inside page of the Pioneer Press, and without nearly enough fanfare, that more than six out of 10 women who give birth in their early 20s are unmarried. That is census data, from census demographers, from the very government that then becomes responsible for many, if not most, of those unmarried women and children.

If that isn't an astonishing statistic, it should be. Why, to any logical person's way of thinking, it explains everything in terms of government at all levels bloating out of control.

Supposing that even angels might fear to tread here, it being liberal dogma that I shouldn't be telling women what to do, or men, either, for that matter, I would submit that marriage would solve virtually every economic issue facing this country.

The census demographers said that single motherhood, on the increase since the 1940s, has accelerated mindblowingly. The birth rate for unmarried women in 2007 was up 80 percent in the almost three decades since 1980. Just between 2002 and 2007, it was up 20 percent.

Does anyone know: if a single mother has a child does she get social security benefits even if she has a good income?

The men weren’t replaced. The standard became “not married.” Most of the heifers I see in WalMart with an EBT card aren’t ‘alone’.....their live-in unemployed boyfriend is outside in his new F-150 waiting on her to come out with the grocery cart and beer. Seen it many, many times.

And the generational training that personal responsibility - on any level - is something to be avoided, blossoms. As we have seen in the Black community, were a vast majority of the children are born to women who have transient men in their lives. The women teach their children to do anything ... ANYTHING ... to get their short term goals, to ignore any long-term consequences, ignore any moral code, legal technicalities, embrace the thug life, and the degeneration of society is quite evident.

The less intellectually gifted multiply, without any social nor economic limitations, and every defect found is multiplied. Meanwhile, those who have intellectual capabilities and try to escape the vicious cycle withhold their contributions from the genetic pool.

It’s quite obvious that we are seeing a radical division of classes within the Black community. We are seeing hordes of learning impaired parasites, bound by no moral code, joining gangs and preying upon the communities in which they were raised; and we are seeing an upper class of Blacks who are struggling to survive - yet still seem to embrace the Black culture that has created the problems that plague them. None are so blind, as those who will not see.

How about instead of taxpayers footing the bill the young men who were stupid enough to lay with these women be made to pay for their own children.

Most of these women don’t just have one child, they have 3 or 4 by 3 or 4 different men for welfare purposes. I’m tired of baby momma drama and I’m tired of paying these sluts for laying on their backs. Make them pay.

There are two programs, ‘benefits’ for which she can apply.

One is SS benefits (tied to somebody’s, usually a parent or absent parent, SSN) as a dependent under 18.

The other is SSI, for which there are no prior SS work histories required. Usually there is some kind of concocted ailment with the child.

Both together, at my last checking, amount to 25% of SSAs outlays (the SS system does not fund the SSI portion, but they are responsible for adminstering it. The money comes from the government welfare pool)

The comments are somewhat amusing. A great many seem to be saying, "Don't blame us women -- blame the men who fathered the babies!"

Today, we live in a world built by Feminism. It is bad in so many ways. Feminism has caused tremendous damage. And the feminists look around at the rubble of society and they say, "Look what those stupid men did!"

Maybe women should focus on stable marriages, stop with the promiscuity, and try to enforce civilized behavior on husbands and children by preaching moral values. It worked before ...

Men were replaced.

The fact that a temporary paramour is outside is not relevant.

The fundamental problem is that of family structure….[T]he Negro family in the urban ghettos is crumbling. A middle class group has managed to save itself, but for vast numbers of the unskilled…[and] poorly educated…the fabric of conventional social relationships has all but disintegrated….So long as this situation persists, the cycle of poverty and disadvantage will continue to repeat itself.

"The Negro Family: The Case for National Action," a 1965 government report by Daniel Patrick Moynihan, who was then at the Department of Labor.

When Moynihan wrote that th Black illegitimacy rate was 25%. Today it's 80%.

He also stated that society could survive that rate in a minority, but not in the majority population. RIGHT NOW our illegitamacy rate exceeds that of the Black population in the 60's. Guess where we will be in another generation?

some of data here:

http://www.heritage.org/research/commentary/2010/05/unwed-birth-rate-signals-the-collapse-of-marriage

8% of ALL children born in the United States are born to illegal immigrants.

http://politics.blogs.foxnews.com/2010/08/11/illegal-immigrants-bear-8-children-born-us

Costs on average for every illegal alien headed household about $19,600 more if they consume the city services than they pay in taxes, so the rest of the taxpayers have to part costs. Schools become overcrowded, English as second language programs push out other programs.

“single mom” sounds like a PC term intended to bring victim-hood status.

Fact is that the woman had choice. She chose to have sex with an uncommitted man. She chose to do so without being married. SHE IS NOT A VICTIM. The victim is the CHILD.

She should be called “unmarried parent” or something like that and needs be held responsible for her choices. Same for the father.

Guess where we will be in another generation?

Indeed. And with the concept of homosexual marriage, the whole meaning of the institution goes away. Man-Man? Woman-Woman? 3-on-1? What difference does it make? Pregnancy happens, and the government will take care of the fallout! The important thing is, "we had fun".

This is more complicated than what Joe here as mentioned.

I'll give single mom's a lot of credit for one thing. They aren't killing their babies. Sadly, that's a lot to ask these days. Some people here want to push shame tactics, but that will lead to more abortions as shame and embarrassment (esp in cases of affairs), family pressure, bad boyfriends, and inconvenience are often reasons for abortions.

Sometimes it's not the single mom's fault. Widows. Guys leaving town and disappearing. That happens. I've seen both happen.

Single parenting is not ideal, but it's a lot more ideal than abortion.

THe best way to guarantee a future of poverty and crime for a child is to have him be brought up by a single mom.

People see this as a criticism of single mothers. NO - its a criticism of society that allows, encourages and supports this, as well as of MEN - who are avoiding their responsibilities

There are NO “single” moms. Just unmarried ones, and 99% of the time by choice. Can’t let that “marriage” thing interfere with EITC, welfare, section 8, food stamps, obamaphones, etc, etc, etc.

That's my experience as well here in Chicago a few blocks from the West Side, only it's a Chrysler 300. I also have a brother-in-law living in a house he inherited with his girlfriend plus two kids from previous dude. She works just enough hours to get the child care check. Everyone's getting their own government support. Who needs work?

A comment and a question.

The comment: these subsidized single mothers must be the finest flowering of the Cloward Piven strategy. It’s untouchable. It’s for the children.

Now the question: why don’t we audit these poor single mums? In the UK they decided to audit the rolls of the disability claimants and a HUGE percentage voluntarily withdrew just because of the announcement..

The problem actually seems to be one of single dads more than single moms, since single moms are at least overwhelmingly fully vested in raising their children.

It’s the dads who aren’t shouldering their share of the load.

It wouldn’t matter if they were married, either. The majority of people getting welfare, don’t want to work, married or not. The men and women that are reproducing are losers and a marriage license won’t change anything. You have to force these people into a job. Force them to do something in exchange for benefits. let them do unpleasant tasks for their local city for welfare benefits. The freebies will be less desirable. Does the Boston Bomber ring a bell? Was he working or paying for his family? nope.

Now, it may be "liberal dogma that I shouldn't be telling women what to do, or men", "I" being the author, or any of us here at FR, but it jolly well isn't liberal dogma that liberals and the Federal goverment shouldn't be telling women or men what to do, quite the opposite: you have to pay for her contraceptive, you have to buy this kind of lightbulb you don't want, you have to buy health insurance, you can't build on the land you own because it contains a swamp wetland, . . .
