Fox News Channel (NO LINK) | 5/1/13

Cannot accept prisoners' hunger strikes -- too cruel.

"GITMO is something that is not in the best interest of the American people."

Calls upon Congress to act but is also considering "executive options."

Real leaders lead. Losers use “executive orders”.

The enemy within. His statements are terribly damaging to our security. He’s insanely leftist.

If they don’t want to eat, don’t make them eat. I don’t see a problem here.

Headline:

"Obama upset with Obama for not keeping Obama promise to close GITMO"

Tells America, he knows Obama can do better.

Promises to "Focus Like A Laser".

Executive Orders are as follow - an executive order are only binding on members of the executive department of the federal government. they are not legally binding on anyone outside the executive department.

Congress alone has the power to write and to pass laws. If Congress chooses to not pass laws that the president advocattes for. the president can in no way act unilaterally. the president is restrained by the constitution.

truth be told he will claim to close Gitmo to appease the countries that believed are owed a favor, but he is unable to do so, as only Congress can close Gitmo, as Gitmo is a naval institution on the island of Cuba with a prison within it. This naval base was secured by the US in the Spanish America war. remember Teddy Roosevelt and the Rough Riders.

IMO, if those prisoners want to die by starving themselves, that is fine with me.

I would call that part of the sequester program and celebrate the cost savings. A real “Win/Win” in my book.

Obama’s statement ws only empty rhetoric for his base. He cannot and will not do anything more about Gitmo. It is off his radar screeen and will never be heard from again. Of course, he might appoint Uncle Plugs to form a commission to study it considering how much good he did with the gun control effort!

An old fashioned but quite effective way to end problems with POWs is to demand the otherside, in this case, AlQaida, sign a peace treaty. Absent a peace treaty within, e.g. 60 days, execute the POWs ~ after all, they are the enemy’s problem, not that of the people they attacked.

If the Germans had done that, we'd have never had "Hogan's Heroes."

The Germans didn’t ask for a peace treaty.

Yeah, I agree. So what’s he going to do if he closes down GITMO and moves them to Thompson prison in IL or whatever option he’s considering? Then if they go on hunger strikes at their new facility, is he going to just release them so as not to be cruel?

I continue to be amazed, day by day, week by week, at the stupidity of his logic and rhetoric.
