Report: Half of staff may quit LA Times if right-wing Koch brothers buy paper

Call their bluff. Break the left’s media monopoly. Then rename the paper the “Los Angeles Kochtopus,” just to spite them.

At a Los Angeles Times in-house awards ceremony a week ago, columnist Steve Lopez addressed the elephant in the room…

Facing the elephant trunk-on, “Raise your hand if you would quit if the paper was bought by the Koch brothers.” About half the staff raised their hands.

Perhaps one brave Times reporter would go public with a story killed by the new owners. She would lose her job, and it would be written about in The New York Times. And, it would pressure the LA Times owners to be more objective. But many of the people working at the Times support a family or are still developing their careers and can’t afford to lose their jobs — especially in a town with few job opportunities for newspaper journalists.

If half the staff quit under Koch ownership, that would leave half as many people likely to stand up to the owners — not to mention a huge loss of talented journalists who have built a wealth of LA knowledge and relationships over years of experience.

Half may be an underestimate. According to lefty Harold Meyerson, “A recent informal poll that one L.A. Times writer conducted of his colleagues showed that almost all planned to exit if the Kochs took control (and that included sportswriters and arts writers).” Cheap bravado among like-minded liberals or a bona fide threat? There’s only one way to know for sure.

>>I’d prefer that they ritualistically disemboweled themselves, but I’ll settle for their resignation.

The men can do that. The women can self-immolate. They’re all liberals, so they’ll need a lot more gas than blades.

Ya just got to laugh, liberals are a slow bunch.

Haven't figured out they would be fired anyway, what a non-threat.

“Sounds more like a good start.”

Now, if we could only get a decent President, we could do the same thing to all the illegal aliens! The Koch Bros. would become instant heroes of the Right if they just bought the Slimes and shut it down!

That will be one of the best things that could happen given the “quality” of the screeds contained within.

Don’t let the doors hitcha on the way out, *sshats.

Good. Now they only have to fire the other half when they take over. Like any of these little punks on a failing newspaper could find a job as good as the one they have.

Someone posted a link to a blog occupied by NY Times Reporters where one of the posters boasted that 75% of the reporting staff of the NY Times were ‘gay’ as in homosexuals.

I suspect most of the large print media outlets are occupied by such demographics as the NY Times.

My own sister is a reporter for one of NY’s largest most famous papers. She goes along to get along. I expect most reporters are similar.

They will stay and run counter to management and spy for lib news agencies.

Same issue we have with the federal government workers. All these libs get hired during lib admins and stay on during better times (I cannot say conservative since we haven’t had one since 1988) and torpedo those administrations.

Koch brothers always clean house when they take over a business enterprise. This will be fun to watch.

Are these the same ones who were going to leave the country if Busg was reelected in 2004?

Excellent!!! I'm sure there are some good, honest people out there looking for a job. It's not easy for an honest, decent person to find work in the liberal media.

This is a chance to reward those who have held tough, and reported the truth in the past.

Go for it! Make that paper one on the most popular in the country.

(and that included sportswriters and arts writers)

Gee, it also includes the two most goofball liberal groups on the paper?

Sportswriters are the biggest leftist suckups on the planet. They think that the more leftist they are, the more likely boss editor will let them write about something other than sports. Same goes for the fembo douchebag art critics.

Mike Lupica and Frank Rich are the models for this sort of jump in status. Lupica's the most unreadable hump on the planet.

Awesome. That's a purge we can all benefit from.

However, I put as much stock in this declaration as Alec Baldwin's assertion that he'd leave the US if GWB won the election in 2000. We're still waiting for that dork to leave.

Yep, the Kochs might actually give these people a grammar test!

That’ll empty 1/2 the buildings!

Then they will install FACT CHECKERS!

That will empty the other 1/2.

Damn. I am not a fan of the Koch brothers, as THEY are also pro-sodomite “marriage”, but HEY...if they will put some extremist liberal “journalists” out of work—then I HOPE THEY BUY the paper.
