'Missiles fired at' Russian plane with 159 passengers onboard flying over Syria

Two missiles were reportedly fired at a Russian plane with at least 159 passengers on board that was flying over Syrian territory. Russian officials admit the jet faced danger, but are not talking of a targeted attack.

The news broke in on Monday as Interfax, citing “an informed source in Moscow,” reported that a Russian passenger plane was attacked.

Syrian [officials] informed us that on Monday morning, unidentified forces launched two ground-to-air missiles which exploded in the air very close to a civilian aircraft belonging to a Russian airline,” the source told the Russian agency.

The pilots reportedly managed to maneuver the plane in time however, “saving the lives of passengers.”

It is believed the aircraft was intentionally targeted, “but it remains unclear whether the attackers knew it was Russian or not,” the source added.

However, Russian officials, though admitting the plane might have been endangered, are not yet talking of a targeted attack.

The Russian Foreign Ministry’s said on its website the plane’s crew at 4.55 PM Moscow time (12.55 GMT) “detected battle action on the ground that, according to the crew, could constitute a threat to the 159 passengers on board the plane.”

The Russian Foreign Ministry is now “taking emergency measures to clarify all the circumstances of this situation, including making contact with the Syrian authorities,” the ministry’s spokesperson Aleksandr Lukashevich said.

Meanwhile, Russia's federal air traffic agency Rosaviatsia has issued a warning to all Russian airlines to avoid routes over conflict zones.

This was yesterday, Why do I think this is related to hearings coming up? Watch if anyone is killed and who they are as we may have a group getting rid of anyone who could tell the truth one Ministry at a time.

Libya: Gunmen Have Surrounded Foreign Ministry, Military Says
April 28, 2013 | 1128 GMT
At least 200 gunmen allegedly armed with AK-47s and sniper rifles have surrounded the Libyan Foreign Ministry in Tripoli to demand that officials who worked for ousted leader Moammar Gadhafi be banned from senior positions in the new government, witnesses and a military official said April 28, Al Jazeera reported. The gunmen blocked roads with at least 20 trucks loaded with anti-aircraft weapons and directed traffic away from the building. The country’s post-Gadhafi era has been characterized by a weakened central government that has struggled to control the variety of armed militias vying for influence

So what happens if the missile is one that Dumbo gave AQ and the rebels from Benghazi?

Hmmmm.....chickens coming home is right!

Yeah, I posted that article a few days ago. It didn’t get any comments. We tend to forget about these places after our planes stop dropping bombs on them. As Benghazi should have taught people our problems there are far from done.

What do you suppose the Russian response would have been if they would have actually brought that CIVILIAN plane down?

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/ukraine/1359353/Ukraine-admits-it-shot-down-Russian-airliner.html

BTW, the U.S. backed up the Russians by providing evidence that is was, in fact, the Ukrainians.

I don’t know much about commercial airliners.

Does their onboard radar have the capability to track something like a missile and warn that it’s heading toward the aircraft - especially if coming from below?

To be honest manpads has numerous operational limitations. Airliner is not exactly easy target unless it takes-off or landing.

Do air to air missles explode without hitting their target? Do they have proximity sensors or something?

At Least the Klingons have a concept of Honor.

Can’t say the same about the mooozh. Unless one considers killing one’s daughter because she blew a kiss to a boy on facebook.

An accidental hit is far different from being a deliberate target.

Remember how the Russians dealt with the Somali pirates who seized a Russian ship? Putin is not wishy-washy like Obama and those firing those missiles will come to regret their targeting of the Russians.

I don’t know if I believe this story.

See, obama was elected and he hit the ‘reset’ button and erased all the evil that George Bush did on the world scene. We’ve returned to the Garden of Eden, and everyone is happy.

Therefore, this report cannot be right.

“I doubt it. Retaliation for Russian support of assad is more likely.”

Unless the Fraud-in-Chief provided the intel to the people firing the missiles....

The Russians do not play.

Both the people in Syria, and the United States, will suffer if this has been enabled by us.

BTW, how sh*tty are those missiles if they cannot take out a slow, lumbering civvy aircraft?
