It is no accident that corps like Pepsi, Coke, Hershey, General Mills...JUNK FOOD...are big campaign contributors. There is NO nutritional/helpthepoor reason to have Food stamps purchase junk food. Many of them have also relocated to Mexico.

http://www.campaignmoney.com/political/committees/pepsi-cola-bottlers-association-pac.asp?cycle=08

[snip]Just as the industry’s lobbying jumped in 2009 — when a possible federal tax on soft drinks was introduced — so, too, did lobbying by both these soda companies.

Coca-Cola’s lobbying efforts jumped by about $7 million that year — from about $2.5 million in 2008 to $9.4 million in 2009. Meanwhile, Pepsi’s expenditures jumped by more than $8 million to reach about the same amount — $9.4 million.http://www.opensecrets.org/news/2011/09/the-cola-wars-in-washington.html

Who gets Cokes’ $$$?

When I was 17 I worked for a summer in the apple orchards around Tonasket,WA along side migrant farm workers. Some were there on work visas, but there were many who weren’t. Many of them received food stamps. This was 1976.

Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo

The treaty called for the United States to pay $15 million to Mexico and pay off the claims of American citizens against Mexico up to $3.25 million. It gave the United States the Rio Grande boundary for Texas, and gave the U.S. ownership of California, and a large area comprising New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, Utah, and parts of Wyoming and Colorado. Mexicans in those annexed areas had the choice of returning to Mexico or becoming U.S. citizens with full rights.

Now Illegals Want The Land AND The Money!

Do you realize that Free Republic is one of the few truly Conservative bastions? On FR we collate and digest news and organize and join Conservative causes. We expose government excess and hold politicians feet to the fire.

If FR ceases to exist, Conservatives will lose a valuable tool.

Big Bend crossing is hardly a threat to national security.

I’ve been there plenty and, just by being in the middle of NO WHERE, and no where near any roads, it’s not a crossing point for illegals. (It’s basically in the middle of two wilderness areas on each side of the border.)

There are plenty of points where illegals do cross is droves, but this ain’t one.
