Under President Obamas 2010 health law, the government officials in charge of keeping Medicaid afloat have until Tuesday to report whether costs for the fiscally foundering program will exceed expectations.
But they wont have anywhere to send their report. Thats because the Independent Payment Advisory Board perhaps the most controversial entity created under Obamas law still doesnt exist.
This 15-member board, denounced by critics as a death panel, is tasked under the law with determining which patients ought to receive which treatments and whether taxes ought to be raised to finance the program.
The board has been the centerpiece of the warnings from the right about a dystopian socialist future in which government actuaries decide which senior citizens qualify for new hips or bypass surgeries, and which do not. Which is the only thing that matters to it's supporters.
It's not that vast numbers of people will be hunting them down in retribution for real or imagined wrongs, but that their customer base is about 300,000,000 people, and 1/10 of 1% is 300,000 people, and that's all they need to have really POd at them.
As you all know I worked for USPS headquarters for many years. We regularly had REAL bomb threats in the HQ building (one time it was a car load of dynamite), and there were these people who thought they owned us and they'd threaten death all the time.
You never really get used to folks calling you up with blood in their eye, but you do get a feel for just how many of them there are ~ about 300,000,000 ~ and now Health and Human Services is going to take on the bad actors who liked to harrass postal workers.
I see some serious risk to everybody who works for ObamaKKKare but particularly for the folks on the lead 'death panel'.
It looks like Zero has picked exactly ZERO people to be on the Independent Payment Advisory Board.
Hmmmm.
