What Will Happen When The Government Collapses?
The Western Center for Journalism ^ | Arpil 27, 2013 | Floyd Brown

Posted on 04/29/2013 9:11:55 AM PDT by Perseverando

Yesterday, my colleague, Marty Biancuzzo, explained why America is on a path to inevitable economic and government collapse.

After reading Marty’s piece, another colleague asked me: What will America look like after a government collapse?

It’s an important question, and I want to give a satisfactory answer. But I can’t do that in one short column, so I plan to return to this topic several times over the next few weeks. I hope that when I’m done, you will have a better understanding of where the country is headed.

Now, consider our current situation…

It’s clear that Barack Obama and Congress have no plan to get the dead-in-the-water economy moving. In fact, they appear to be completely incompetent.

Too many Americans are jobless, an excessive number of Americans are dependent on government handouts to eat, and the countless Americans who could contribute to the economic recovery are frozen in place, unwilling to take risks due to an uncertain regulatory environment.

Now, it’s fashionable in some governmental circles to argue that another Great Depression could never happen. Politicians reason that America at present has far more tools to prevent such a cataclysm.

They believe that “things are different this time.” If only they knew how right they were.

It Is Different This Time… It’s Worse

I’ve heard investment advisors, central bankers, and politicians use the phrase “It’s different this time” so often, I want to wretch. This asinine statement is arrogant beyond reason.

Frankly, I believe we’re much more vulnerable to a prolonged depression than we were in 1929.

Here’s the truth: Today’s monetary manipulation may forestall a bust, but it can’t change the fact that one is inevitable. And when it arrives, it’ll be more devastating and difficult to solve than in the past.

I’m afraid Government won’t so much collapse as crush we the people who live beneath its jackboot.

Governments don’t generally collapse they just become totalitarian like Bloomberg’s New York. They have the guns and the forces to uses them they will see to it that they get the money they want no matter the costs.

This weekend I cranked up the DVR and re-watched “Cromwell”. Sadly I don’t see anyway to avoid the collapse that is coming expect if the military stages a coup at some point.

And that is a crap shoot. Do you get a restoration of the republic or a military junta?

As you say I fear for my children’s future, it looks rather bleak.

You know, that seems like a pretty plausible scenario.

PRESIDENT HAYES: So, what can we expect now that the Gao-uld have invaded Earth?

JACKSON: Slavery. Death. More slavery. Did I mention death? We TOLD you so!"

H: OK. Now that you've gotten that off your chest, is there anything you can contribute that helps?"

There is the ongoing discussion of whether it will be “Without Rule of Law” or “Excessive Rule of Law”.

The reality will probably be both.

The fedgov will not have the resources to be everywhere,
but where they are it will be heavy handed and excessive.

Incorrect assumption. They know EXACTLY what they are doing. They are QUITE competent in destroying us.

A few minutes ago, FOX's Megyn Kelly said "we weren't supposed to have a muslim brotherhood president but there he sits" and my jaw dropped thinking she was finally outting hussein. It took a few moments to realize she was talking about Egypt. At the time, I was in the other room making a list of garden seeds I was short of for next year and thinking of ways to expand the garden... just in case.

But isn't the right more armed than the left? If the Govt collapsed, wouldn't those who own arms have more power than the libs?

Did you miss the jackboots in Boston last week yanking people out of their homes at gun point? Too many people think our military won't turn on the citizens...

I agree with you 100%. We need to resurrect what was once unashamedly called the “Christian consensus” which means that our society and laws should comport with the essential elements of Judeo-Christian thought. This does not in any way mean that states should create their own theocracies; but it does mean that there are certain absolute and time tested truths that can be used to promote the civil society. These constructs are an anathema to the moral relativism of the Left and they provide more than sufficent means of excluding their ilk. The Left can occupy their Sodoms and Gomorrahs, and the results will be predictable.

We just need a few key states to take these ideas seriously.

“Just look at the empires that fell mostly from pressures within: ...Soviet Union.”

I remember when the Berlin wall fell. One day it was there and the next day it was on the ground. The guards were gone and east Berliners were tearing it down.

Remember the day Bush had a press conference with his money men there and said there had to be a bailout right then or the major banks would fail. We didn't know it until that day.

I fear we won't know the country has failed on its obligations, until the announcement is made one day and the govn. confiscates our savings accounts that day. I think we are treading water and about to go down the drain before we know it.

just maybe they will finally grasp what a bunch of fools they have been.

Don't count on it. They'll probably still be trying to blame anything other than themselves.

“However, what about the military and the police? Which way will they swing? We already saw what happened in Boston. Will that happen nationwide or will some police units side with the citizens?”

Psychological group think takes over united cop types. What happened in Boston will happen to the country. All the cops types took on a group mentality - it was they, as a group with a common identity against the rest of the citizens in order to get the bad guy.

Once all the cop types unite, psychological group think rules and the orders given to them unite them as one. From that point on, outsiders (meaning individual citizens) don't matter anymore. They won't let their group down by deviating from orders given.

You are going to be saying, “Why would the cops/state guard/national guard/Homeland Security cops, do that to citizens?” Group think/goals/orders will be the answer as to why they did/do it.

Look at human behavior. Most people want to belong to a group to feel they “belong”. One of the strongest groups is law enforcement. When they are together, everyone else is an outsider. They will work in groups and citizens better follow the orders given to them by the cop group/mayor/governor, etc.. If you don't follow orders, the cop group will be on you and you have no standing with the cop group. You are going down, one way or another.

There will be pockets of Excessive Rule of Law,
and places where they can’t get to that will be
Without Rule of Law.
