Syrian Christians Told Convert, Leave, or Die

Religious Freedom Coalition
Apr 26th, 2013

Christians remaining in Syria have been given three choices by the American supported Free Syrian Army (FSA): convert to Islam, flee their homeland, or die. It is widely believed that this Islamic ideology will be enacted nationwide if President Assad is overthrown.

Many Westerners falsely assume that since the FSA opposes a dictatorship, they must be democratic, secular, and tolerant. In reality, however, the FSA seeks to establish a totally Islamic state governed by Sharia law.

Although many have suffered as a result of the civil war, Christians are special targets of the Muslim paradigm. Refugees describe kidnapping, rape, harassment, torture, theft, and murder as commonplace activities toward believers in areas that the FSA has taken over.

“Just being Christian is enough to be a target,” report survivors. Nina Oshana was one of the innocent victims. She was simply a young Christian woman riding a bus. The FSA attacked the bus and shot and killed her.

U.S. Congressman Frank Wolf (R-Va.) recently traveled to the Middle East and met with Syrian refugees in an urgent attempt to bring attention to this situation and spur U.S. policymakers to action. During his visit, Congressman Wolf confirmed the true plight of Christians like Nina: they are not victims of generalized violence, but are persecuted by brutality, discrimination, and displacement.

It really is way past time for Christians to question whether US foreign policy is anti-Christian.

Just about every place the US has intervened — the Levant, North Africa, the Balkans, the Middle East, South Asia, 1975-1999 East Timor — the indigenous Christians suffered. The body counts and numbers of Christian refugees is huge.

I’d be interested if anybody can suggest counter examples where US foreign policy with Muslim-majority countries helped indigenous Christians. The only case I can think of is that President Clinton’s foreign policy regarding East Timor.

Man, if “leave” is an option, I’d get the heck out of there.

It’s don’t-care about Christians. What do you expect out of the world.

John McCain and other foolish liberals are just plain foolish, and should leave public office (McCain was an early support of the “rebels”.

McCain and the rest of the N-word Cons aka TrotskyCons also supported bombing Christian Yugoslavia for 80 days in support of the Islamic Bosnians and Nazi Croatians. Christians must wake and see the real enemies are both domestic and international!

It's likely "leave" is not an viable option for many. This is a war zone and mobility for civilians is restricted and the FSA is hostile to Christians. Even if one could safely get to the border of Syria, all the countries surrounding it are Muslim except Israel - and it is likely their border is closed. On some borders they might be welcomed, somewhat, if they can get there.

There are are about 2 million Christians, and that is a huge exodus. Such a movement is unlikely to happen either easily or peacefully in that war torn country and especially because the FSA will be more than happy to kill them for Allah.

The Christians are screwed. Some will be lucky and get out. The rest will probably be either converted or killed in this Muslim madhouse. Unlike the Kurds in Iraq, our government is unlikely to help the Christians much as our good buddies are the radical Muslim FSA.

Ethnic cleansing is on the way and it will be aided and abetted by the United States and the UN.

I wouldn't go so far as to "cheer" the use of chemical weapons (if indeed it did occur, as opposed to being rebel propaganda), but I can't see for the life of me how Assad is any worse than any other tinpot dictator in the region (or most of the Third World), and why so many of our politicians are champing at the bit to see him toppled by rampaging rebels.

Obviously, he's a thug, but the alternative is far worse. Christians in the Arab world have always looked upon secular dictators like Assad as the lesser evil when compared to having Islamist imams and mullahs running the country. They also recognize that in their lands, "democracy" means two wolves and sheep deciding what's for dinner. I agree with them.

“Funny. I’ve never heard a Christian nation give this ultimatum to its immigrants.”

You can go way back to pogroms against the jews of Europe. And wasn’t there a lot of forced repatriation in the aftermaths of both world wars?

Besides, these people aren’t immigrants.
