Lamentable as this may be, the law is the law. The kid was an American, and upon arrest, he must be Mirandized.

The Senators and Representatives who wrote these laws during the Bush Administration ought to go back and re-read them.

The Official Version is that the kids were acting on their own, not under the direction of a foreign power. In fact, all of the testimony given before the kid was Mirandized stands a pretty good chance of being thrown out of the criminal trial. Every citizen already has these "Miranda" rights - they are granted by God (as all rights are) to individuals and are simply guaranteed by the US Constitution in the Bill of Rights.

Wrong. Miranda "Rights" are the extrapolated result of a Supreme Court ruling and have the shakiest of constitutional underpinning. The US criminal justice system functioned for 200 years without them.
