The rollout of a new national health care program is sure to hit some bumps in the road. But after one of the Affordable Care Act's authors and proponents called the implementation a potential train wreck, Republicans in Congress seized the opportunity to point out the law's shortcomings and revive their arguments for repealing it.

Gotta love that MSM spin. You hear it over and over. Any pain this monstrosity causes the public will be characterized as inevitable "bumps in the road" of implementation. As if the problem is the rollout and not the law itself.
The GOP controlled House has had numerous opportunities to defund ObamaCAIR over the past couple of years, yet they have done nothing to do just that. They control the spending, yet under each and every Continuing Resolution that they have passed, funds for the implementation for ObamaCAIR were left in those bills. I know this because I have been watching and calling my Rep to let him know my thoughts which have gone ignored.
Why the hell would we expect them to do this, now?
Yes. And pigs need to grow wings so they can get out of the mud. Neither is a reasonable expectation. Pigs cannot sprout wings; nor can the GOP grow a spine.
That's how Obama referred to the four murdered Americans in Benghazi. So they're tacitly admitting Obamacare will result in the deaths of Americans.... or maybe they're not.

For the GOP this is Kabuki Theater. The GOP simply wants to look like they oppose the law. In reality, Republicans are politicians above all else, and what politician could turn away the kind of power Obamacare grants them?

The Repukes are guilty of so much, but no need to get all exercised over a planted faux headline by a publication that loves to stir up trouble on the right.
Paul Ryan was on Quinn and Rose claiming that the Dems never intended to pass Obamacare in this form. They thought they could fix it all later, but when Scott Brown got elected it monkeywrenched all their plans. So they crammed thru an unworkable bill rather than start over or take nothing.
Interesting take. Had not heard that before.

I don't trust Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi any further than I can throw them, and John Boehner and Mitch McConnell are all foam and no beer.

What I believe is this, and it’s just a theory: I think the Dems tried to pull this off, and I think they tried to include some GOP members. As bad and incompetent as the GOP is, I don’t think the GOP ever went along with this. Yes, I know the headline said the parties were meeting on this, but when you read the original quotes from the GOP folks, it doesn’t appear they were ever for it. Meeting on a subject is not the same thing as agreeing on it necessarily.
The headline said one thing, but the article said the other. Now, I think the Dems are embarrassed, and trying to walk it back. I think the Politico was trying to establish discord on the right. And in this case, I think even the flacid tepid and sometimes corrupt GOP was actually correct. Am I 100% sure? Nope, and it bears watching, but that’s how I read this particular situation.
On the off-chance that both the GOP leadership's collective brain cells banged together and created synapse, I hope you are right.
The cynic in me (which, by the way, is now 99 44/100 percent pure, just like the soap) still thinks that the GOP-E would be just fine with a carve out, and let the cocktail parties begin. We know the Democrats could care less what the underclass thinks of them, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if they try to ram a carveout through Congress.
Your point about Pollutico, however, is well taken.
Understood the cynicism, and my faith here is not in the GOP per se, my opinion here is based on facts we know, the quotes we read, and what I know to be always true about the Dems and The Politico. There is no part of my calculation that involves giving the GOP the benefit of the doubt...for reasons you, I, and most everyone else on FR understand.
Once the bill was law it can’t just be refunded. Bonier, McConnell have been pretty good at derailing this. They denied Sebilius extra extra money for the exchanges so she’s reaching into her slush fund to pay for it
