He seems to be backing away and I’m willing to cut him a tiny bit of slack for being naive.
Rubio has been talking about his "Dream Act" AKA amnesty since before he was elected.

Too many people here ignored that. His Chief of Staff is a known open borders dimwit.

He is anything but naive and the last thing we need is to continue to "cut slack" or apologize for elected officials naiveness

By cutting slack you assume he's too stupid to know what he's doing. If that's the case, the sooner we get rid of him the better.

Rubio will be in the Senate for another 5+ years, so it is time to get real. Either we win him over or push him into the establishment Republican klatch. If he hears enough reasoned opposition to his stand, he may change his mind. Calling him names, decalring him toast and other such nonsense will do nothing productive.

He is anything but naive...

The question of naivete involves whether he actually believes that the so-called border security provisions could ever be effective, and even more whether he believes the Dims have any intention at all of following through.

He's either naive in believing they might be effective, or he's lying shamelessly as he constanly promotes all those wonderful border security provisions cooked up by the Gang of 8.
