Malkin: A National Security History Lesson for Marco Rubio
Creatos Syndicate ^ | April 26, 2013 | Michelle Malkin

Posted on 04/25/2013 5:34:38 PM PDT by jazusamo

Florida GOP Sen. Marco Rubio seems well meaning enough. As second-generation conservative Americans, I know we both share a common passion for this great land of opportunity. But when it comes to comprehending the real agenda of the open-borders zealots he's allied himself with, Rubio doesn't have a clue.

And his abject ignorance threatens all of us who cherish American sovereignty and exceptionalism.

On Fox News' "The Sean Hannity Show" Tuesday night, Rubio defended his Gang of Eight "immigration reform" bill and insisted that we could and should have a system in place that vets foreign tourists and short-term visa holders based on their "national security" profiles.

"In essence, we should be able to analyze (whether) these are individuals coming from a part of the world that keeps feeding into the terrorist network," Rubio earnestly explained. "(W)e should be very careful about who we allow in and take into account every single measure or every single factor that we think could lead to somebody being more likely possibly a member of a terrorist organization or involved in terror."

Great idea, Rubio! Newsflash: The concept of a national security entry-exit screening database is at least 10 years old. It's an idea that was sabotaged by the progressive soft-on-security ideologues with whom Rubio has recklessly partnered.

In the immediate aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, the Bush administration created NSEERS, the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System. Administered and championed by Justice Department constitutional lawyer, immigration enforcement expert and now-Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, NSEERS stopped at least 330 known foreign criminals and three known terrorists who had attempted to come into the country at certain official ports of entry.

They will not wake up, Jim.

They will not do what’s right. A conservative Senate, House and Presidency will not happen for a couple decades, if ever.

Therefore, we are stuck with what we now have. Illegals flooding across the border, Tsarnaev-type terrorists infiltrating, and democrats gaining voters by the millions.

Texas will fall to the socialist voting illegals as they slowly gain a majority, just as they did in your California.

Then the nation.

The democrats WANT what we have now. Why would the democrats change it? They just keep offering what they know we won’t agree to so they keep what we now have.

The nation will go bankrupt, the crisis they’ve longed for will happen, and a one-party, dictatorship of the proletariat will be imposed on the USA.

Weep for your nation, store ammo, and pray there will at least be a fight.

By cutting slack you assume he's too stupid to know what he's doing. If that's the case, the sooner we get rid of him the better.

Rubio will be in the Senate for another 5+ years, so it is time to get real. Either we win him over or push him into the establishment Republican klatch. If he hears enough reasoned opposition to his stand, he may change his mind. Calling him names, decalring him toast and other such nonsense will do nothing productive.

"The concept of a national security entry-exit screening database is at least 10 years old." This has been LAW since the 1996 immigration bill. If it had been enforced, the 911 hijackers would not have been in the country. Implementation was "delayed" due to objections from the airlines and other tourism-related industries. I remember Delta was a big player in this. The Border Security Act of 2002 in the wake of 911 again mandated the implementation of a computerized entry-exit database. This did not occur. The current ineffective "system" they use exempts Mexicans and Canadians and other foreign nationals who enter on certain kinds of visas, such as Saudis, as well as nationals from western European countries (no terrorists there!) in the visa waiver program. We do not collect biographic and biometric data on all visitors, offering a pass to terrorists, and other undesirable aliens to enter the country under the visa exemptions.

Nor do we track whether or not visitors actually leave. Submission of departure forms are voluntary. There is no way to be certain that visitors are leaving when their visa expires without personally tracking the individual down. As if.

And Rubio (& Company) expect us to believe that this time it will happen. Sus pantalones se están quemando.

He’s a lawyer. He isn’t gullible, he knows exactly what he’s doing. We are not going to win him back, he’s a statist.

He is gullible because he is taking Schumer et al at their word. I'm sure they schmoozed him pretty well, as did McCain and Flake. He isn't the first to be taken and he won't be the last.

Cruz, in his own words, video at link:
“So, it is my hope that passing a bipartisan bill addressing areas of common agreement – securing the border, improving legal immigration, improving agricultural workers to ensure that we have workers who are here out of the shadows, able to work legally.

“I hope that reform legislation will not be held hostage to an issue that is deeply, deeply divisive, namely a pathway to citizenship. In my view that’s how we get something done, we focus on areas of agreement, not on areas of disagreement. And I am hopeful that over the course of consideration, we’ll see some consensus come together to do exactly that.”

FUBO continues openly defying the constitution, IMPEACH the treasonous bastard!!

This system has ceased to function as a republic. He will not be impeached. Personally, I think he's there because the elite of both parties wanted him there.

Conservatives have been sold down the river.

We need a new battle plan, because the current one isn't working, and it won't work. A freaking internet tax, Jim, and Maryland is taxing the God-given RAIN! It is absurd, it is insane, it is tyrannical.

He didn’t get there by being stupid, he knows exactly what he is doing. For crying out loud, he was speaker of the Florida House!

He sounds more like a double agent. Equating illegal aliens with slaves revealed a great deal about him.

Ok, let’s toss him because of one issue, immigration. There’s a winning strategy.

He is anything but naive...

The question of naivete involves whether he actually believes that the so-called border security provisions could ever be effective, and even more whether he believes the Dims have any intention at all of following through.

He's either naive in believing they might be effective, or he's lying shamelessly as he constanly promotes all those wonderful border security provisions cooked up by the Gang of 8.
