Former President George W. Bush said Wednesday in an interview with C-SPAN that while he and former first lady Laura Bush have friends in Washington, he doesn’t miss Washington.

“I really don’t miss Washington. It was an unbelievably exciting experience to be up there for eight years, but I think I told you before that when your time’s up, you exit the stage and let the next man in this case give it his best shot, and so while we’ve got friends in Washington, I’m not all that friendly to Washington,” Bush said. …

I don't really understand Bush so much. I think he has passion, but in some measure is just impervious to it all and just wants to have a life. The problem with that is that lots and lots of people don't have that choice.

I think he has passion

He has passion for many things including protecting our troops and defending the homeland.

But the thing with Bush (a good thing) is he doesn't let his passion rule. He believes in the rule of law and protecting freedom...a rare thing in a leader these days.

Bush’s belief in “the rule of law and protecting freedom”... like setting up the huge freedom stifling Dept of Homeland Security or his refusing to investigate the 911 event properly, like leading & spending the country into a depression and giving Obama a glide path to the WH.....yep he was all about Freedom & Rule of Law.

I guess you're one of the ones who believe that security shouldn't have been tightened up and the terrorists should have been allowed to do whatever they wanted.

Oh, yeah you're also one of those ones like on DU who believe Bush sent us into depression.

Classic leftist thinking.

I understand what you are saying, and I agree for the most part, but IMHO there is another very important consideration here. Passion, with disregard for mannerly protocol, is sometimes very much required when fighting for freedom and principle. Sometimes it requires getting emotional, and down and dirty. Sometimes it's the only way.

Except his passion for Hispanic illegal aliens, which is also in conflict with the law.

Classic Neo-Con foolish thinking, full of invade/invite the world and desire for a GD police state full of DHS dumbazzes who have never ever prevented a SINGLE TERRORIST ATTACK. You obviously don’t give a shitte for Individual Freedom, the BofRights or the other niceties that a non-empire, non-interventionist style of gov intended by the country’s founders. So I think you might just be the more leftist or at least the more Trotsky poster here.

Oh, yeah...those people checking bags for bombs and C4 actually encourage Al Queda to check explosives thru security.

Got it.

Keep up with reality, Trotsky...the DHS has done nothing, NOTHING, ZERO, 000.00, to discourage any bombing anywhere! It is a jobs program for illiterate minorities, just like every other Gubmint program including the vaulted DOD! When the revolution does begin at least the DHS has convenient stockpiles of ammo to help finish off this dead azz Gubermint! Never forget OK City or Flight 800.
