The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reserves the right to buy up to 750 million rounds of ammunition over the next five years and currently has “two years worth” of ammo on hand, or around 247 million rounds in its inventory, the department’s top procurement official said Thursday during congressional testimony.

DHS has already purchased around 41 million rounds of ammunition this year alone, Nick Nayak, DHS’s chief procurement officer, said during an oversight hearing on Capitol Hill. Some $37 million in taxpayer dollars will be spent on the purchase of ammunition in the entirety of fiscal year 2013.

Seen the latest DHS product they are pushing? We don't need any bullets...hiding will save us.

The DHS has given me instructions. I will follow them. I promise not to run with scissors.

Video: Advice from the DHS: See an Active Shooter? Run and Hide

A four-minute instructional video just released by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) entitled “Active Shooter Situation: Options for Consideration” is filled with numerous suggestions for people confronting an “active shooter,” including evacuating the area, hiding from the shooter, warning others about the danger, locking and blocking doors, and silencing cellphones. Only in the gravest extreme, however, is resistance recommended:

If you are caught out in the open and cannot conceal yourself or take cover, you might consider trying to overpower the shooter with whatever means are available.

As the narrator is intoning this, the video shows an office worker reaching into his drawer and pulling out… a pair of scissors, but I will load my stapler....just in case.

With their mountain of ammo and the rising prices, I’m wondering when cases start falling off the backs of trucks and show up for sale in the parking lot of the 7/11.

And where's the ammo they've ALREADY BOUGHT?

Ammo will (or already has) become the New Gold. Actually, ammo is better than gold, because it can keep you safe and free, where gold will only get you robbed or killed....

yep- they admitted -that yearly use is around 100 million rounds-—that is for ALL of DHS- so... they currently have
a stockpile (that they admit to) of 260 MILLION rds.

Well over 2 years worth and they are STILL buying-

They totally screwed this up - BECause they admitted to Buying 100’s of Millions of rounds last Year!!-

No doubt they are hoarding- maybe the public is too-
but that is in response to the DHS.

Nick Nayak, Patty Whack, give them all the bone!

What do they mean, “Reserves the right...”? Screw DHS. Who elected them?

How can these people lie with straight faces? And how stupid are the elected dumbnuts who believe the lies?

End rhetorical questioning.

Anybody have the website where the purchase order is?

How do you run and hide if you're old and crippled? Actually, I don't think anyone can run faster than a bullet. Stay armed, stay well.

I wonder if some of this ammo is being shipped to some nefarious foreign group like the Muslim Brotherhood? Or maybe dumped off the back of a barge out in the middle of the ocean, to keep ammo unavailable to the US civilian population.
