Republicans and Democrats in Washington Conspire to Exempt Themselves from Obamacare
Red State ^ | 4/25/2013 | Erick Erickson

If this happens, the nation needs to collectively march on Washington, DC, burn it to the ground, and spread salt over the ground.

According to the Politico, in super secret “high-level, confidential talks”, Harry Reid, John Boehner, the Obama administration, and other lawmakers are working to exempt themselves and their staffs from Obamacare.

They want to rush it through, probably sneaking it through on some other legislation that no one cares about, and get it all done before anyone can say anything about it.

If the Republican Party leadership in Congress goes along with this ride, there will need to be a new third party that challenges both the GOP and Democrats.

Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.

The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.

Credit where due, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) was willing to go on record saying, “I think if this is going to be a disaster — which I think it’s going to be — we ought to enjoy it together with our constituents.” Amen to that.

If Congress does this, there must be repercussions from the public. You know I don’t think highly of congress critters, but I just can’t imagine the GOP being stupid enough to do this. Yes, I recognize they’re the stupid party, but still.

They already did it. There are parts of NobamaCare that they are already exempt from.

Any senator or representative who is not actively speaking out against this idea is actually for it. So far I only hear Senator Burr — contrasted with a deafening silence from the Georgia delegation...

Our constitutional form of government can only function properly when our elected officials are decent, moral, God-fearing people.

OK, I am now officially confused. I thought obamacare was approved as a tax form our wonderful SCOTUS. If that is the case, then why/how do you exempt yourself? Everyone who works pays income tax. Everyone is subjected to obamacare as a tax, so everyone should be subjected to it. If congress can exempt themselves from Obamatax then why don’t they just exempt themselves from income tax, property tax, sales tax etc?

THIS IS TOTAL BULLCHIT

Where and how do you start to take the Country back when you have people continually electing Boehner like representatives and 50+or- of the people electing a person like Obama to be their POTUSA. I am not giving up my God given rights as the Founders set out in the original Constitution but I am looking for the stating line and time for the great revival.

Congress shall pass no law that does not apply equally them, as it does the people.

Amen.

Good: This should be the spark we have been waiting on to ignite the FIRE.
Especially when people realize the TRUE COST of ObamaDon't care, so called health care.

Richard Burr's commendable statements and feelings aside, I've heard elsewhere that Boehner appears sympathetic to his staff and aides in Congress. That's tantamount to support, for whatever reason.

I hope you're correct suggesting Politico is simply trying to splatter some of Harry Reid's mud onto Boehner,

They’re exempt from insider trading laws,
so I don’t think there’s anything they can’t exempt themselves from...

capital murder, maybe, might be the exception.

And Boehner may prove that's the case ,but his spokesperson's comment was not leaning in that direction. Yes, we must watch Boehner, and cannot trust him, but we can't trust Politico's headline either. That's why to me this is a watch and see. Boehner gives us plenty of reasons to jump in his sh-t - but it's too early to do so on this one yet, altho it bears watching.

From another novel, it's called the "Aristocracy of Pull".

Our elected representatives are truly looters and moochers. They make Wesley Mouch proud.

Actually I thought the Senators & House Reps already had their own gold-plated cadillac version of health care, subsidized & paid for by the American taxpayers. Of course this doesn’t mean that the RAT bastard GOP-e & democRAT politicians will not hesitate to ensure that their gold-plated cadillac health care plans will continue to run unhindered even under 0dumb0Care.
