Republicans and Democrats in Washington Conspire to Exempt Themselves from Obamacare
Red State ^ | 4/25/2013 | Erick Erickson

Posted on 04/25/2013 2:23:12 AM PDT by markomalley

If this happens, the nation needs to collectively march on Washington, DC, burn it to the ground, and spread salt over the ground.

According to the Politico, in super secret “high-level, confidential talks”, Harry Reid, John Boehner, the Obama administration, and other lawmakers are working to exempt themselves and their staffs from Obamacare.

They want to rush it through, probably sneaking it through on some other legislation that no one cares about, and get it all done before anyone can say anything about it.

If the Republican Party leadership in Congress goes along with this ride, there will need to be a new third party that challenges both the GOP and Democrats.

Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.

The talks — which involve Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio), the Obama administration and other top lawmakers — are extraordinarily sensitive, with both sides acutely aware of the potential for political fallout from giving carve-outs from the hugely controversial law to 535 lawmakers and thousands of their aides. Discussions have stretched out for months, sources said.

Credit where due, Senator Richard Burr (R-NC) was willing to go on record saying, “I think if this is going to be a disaster — which I think it’s going to be — we ought to enjoy it together with our constituents.” Amen to that.

If Congress does this, there must be repercussions from the public. You know I don’t think highly of congress critters, but I just can’t imagine the GOP being stupid enough to do this. Yes, I recognize they’re the stupid party, but still.

Nope, simply commenting that you probably fell victim to a headline from an organization whose main goal is to sew discord among conservatives - and clearly I was right. And clearly you are not reading very well today, since I explicity said I do NOT trust the idiots - and yet.....there you go again....

>>If the Republican Party leadership in Congress goes along with this ride, there will need to be a new third party that challenges both the GOP<<

There’s not already enough reasons up till now for a third party?

Man oh man, what’s it gonna take?

We are most assuredly on our own. We have absolutely NO representation in DC. They are NOT looking out for us.

hmmm ~ thought it was FR doctrine that they'd already done that ~ exempted themselves?

So now they are secretly plotting and planning to do that.

They used to be covered by the FEHB ~ Federal Employee Health Benefit program which is 'sposed to be the very model for the 'Exchange' nonsense.

Then, they made themselves subject to the ObamaKKKare rules BUT, and it's an enormous BUT, GINORMOUS, DOUBLE GINORMOUS SUPER COLOSSAL BUT, even bigger than Michelle's ~ I didn't see where they'd been kicked out of FEHB!

Which means........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing changed and it's not likely to change, and this is a hoax ~ so, why doesn't somebody read the bill to see what is 'sposed to happen. Bet Max Baucus knows ~ which is why he is retiring ~ but is he moving to Costa Rica where he can get a doctor?

"America needs to defend itself, and the government is NOT DOING IT’S JOB."

I'm with you, but it's even worse than that...the government doesn't even know what it's job IS.

Or it’s a ruse to get people off the fact that the GOP keeps funding Obama’s cash and weapons donations to terrorist muslim countries? Or their great silence on the Boston terror issue re Admin involvement/coverup

Either way the GOP is the failed bulwark.

markomalley (from the article)~:
“ Congressional leaders in both parties are engaged in high-level, confidential talks about exempting lawmakers and Capitol Hill aides from the insurance exchanges they are mandated to join as part of President Barack Obama’s health care overhaul, sources in both parties said.”

Do you need any more evidence of an ‘elitist’ government ?
Good enough for you plebeians
Not good enough for us aristocrats !!

The legislation also comes with an allowance for luxury dachas for each of the lawmakers. (Taxpayers will take turns tending to the landscaping.)

IMHO

That may be true, but that’s another (though related) topic. My only point is here is that the Politico’s headline is very misleading. The quotes from the Republicans inside the article do not indicate they are going to go along with this. It’s worth watching for sure, and I have no confidence in them, especially Boehner, but I also know the source is worth being skeptical of.

New Amendment:

Congress shall pass no law that does not apply equally them, as it does the people.

when writing Obamacare they forgot the detail. so they stated that they can add whatever they want with no vote. it is in the fine print on page 1699, just after the fine print - Obama has been declared supreme leader for the free world. and it includes Obama’s student loan indebtedness is exempt and there is a hidden clause All social security recipents whom have a college degree whom have unpaid student loans, (obama exempt because his disability - stupidity) will pay back the loans for the rest of their unnatural lives which is 5 - 10 years which ever comes first.

Slaughter-House cases. 83 U.S. 36., (1872)
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?navby=case&court=US&vol=83&page=36

The government cannot take a right from you and give it to another. Part of the case, was New Orleans had set up a large area to slaughter farm animals. This gave the corporation the exclusive right to slaughter all farm animals in the parishes of Orleans, Jefferson, and St. Bernard. And a land owner could not sell animals or produce from his private land.
This is a 5th and 14th Amendment and Article 1 section 10 VIOLATION.
“No Title of Nobility shall be granted”

GIBBONS v. OGDEN, 22 U.S. 1 (1824)
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?navby=case&court=US&vol=22&page=1

The acts of the Legislature of the State of New York, granting to Robert R. Livingston and Robert Fulton the exclusive navigation of all the waters within the jurisdiction of that, with boats moved by fire or steam, for a term of years.

Lakewood v. Plain Dealer Publishing Co,. 486 U.S. 750 (1988)
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?navby=case&court=US&vol=486&page=750

Here we find another pick and choose as to who will get the favors of the government.

Columbia v. Omni Outdoor Advertising 449 U.S. (1991)
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?navby=case&court=US&vol=499&page=365

The city fathers wanted to have one sign company to put up all of the signs in the City of Columbia, South Carolina. So this is another loss for the great leaders of our local government. They don’t seem to realize our U. S. Constitution is for equality, and not a buddy system.

Leathers v. Medlock,. 499 U.S. 439 (1991)
http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/scripts/getcase.pl?navby=case&court=US&vol=499&page=439

Another case of playing favorites. This one is about taxes. It seems that the state of Arkansas wanted to charge Mr. Medlock taxes on his cable television subscribers and not on newspapers and magazines. They all three entertain, give out news, do advertising so they should pay equal taxes. Newspapers and magazines could do good for elected officials.
